Growing up, I had the nickname as an animal magnet as I always had over seven pets in the house and I love taking care of them! Now I have two cats, Romeo and Salvador Dali. Animals bring joy to my life and I want to return the favor by making them happy as well as their owners. I provide complimentary meet and greet before your booking to become acquainted with you and your pets and to determine
that I am the right fit as your Rover sitter. Note: I am Deaf but that is never a barrier to me when it comes to taking care of animals or communicating with their owners!
I am currently a graduate student for an online program at Gallaudet University, pursuing a Master's degree in Sign Language Education. I also teach ASL courses at Tidewater Community College and volunteer at Families to Families, a support group program for parents with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children. I hope to become a Foster caretaker for pets one day.
Dogs and cats are my speciality but I am also familiar with bird, reptiles, rodents, and other animals. I have experiences with training puppies, taking care of senior pets and pets with special needs (post-surgical recovery, chronic illnesses, etc), and administering medicines orally and via injections (in dogs, cats, ferrets, and rats).
To provide the best care possible, it is important for me to be aware of your pets' special needs, such as dietary restrictions or behavioral concerns. Do let me know your pets' allergies (food/environmental), toy or treat restrictions, history of destructive behavior, history of reactivity (barking, lunging on leash, guarding food or toys, wetting bed or marking in the house), and history of separation anxiety. The more you are able to inform me about your pets, the better I can accommodate and provide excellent service. I do not have any breed, age, or gender preferences as I love any kind of dogs--and any kind of pets, even tarantulas!
Dog-walking: I love going for walks around in the neighborhood, to the parks (especially First Landing State Park), and anywhere else the owner wishes me to take their furbabies to. I can walk up to 3 times a day, depending on the dogs' energy level and stamina.
House-sitting/drop-in visits: I love to play with dogs and cats (and any other pets) and provide the best quality care as possible. I make sure their water bowls are clean and filled with fresh water, their potty breaks are relieved, their feeding schedule in compliance, and anything else is necessary--such as medicines. I also can bring in the mail, water your plants, and any other small favors as well. I send clients updates with photos frequently!
Boarding/day-care: I live in a small house with fenced yard and two cats. Your pets will need to be able to get along with cats. Romeo tends to hide from fur visitors while Sal usually play with them! Your pets can play tug-of-war, wrestle playful, or chill on the couches/floor in my living room. They also can run around, play ball, or roll in the grass in my fenced backyard. I do have some towels and toys but you will need to bring your own bedding, food/water bowls, and toys--anything that will make them feel even more at home!
Overall, my style of care is accommodating as each pet is unique in his/her own ways. Some pets have high energy level and need longer walks while others prefer to cuddle and sleep all day--both work for me! I send my clients updates with text messages and photos so they can know how their furbabies are doing.
If you have any questions, please do not hesistate to contact me!
