Since childhood, animals have been a huge part of my life. I raised my own dog (from puppyhood through old age-she recently passed away at the age of 18), I volunteer at Animal Friends (a no-kill shelter located north of the city), and grew up around both pets and working dogs when working on a horse farm.
I am currently a filmmaker living in Bloomfield, and because of the sporadic hours and
occasional travel required, I am unable to have a dog of my own. I do, however, have many open days when I am not booked on a job that can be spent pampering your furry friend!
A typical day of dog-sitting might look like this:
Starting with breakfast and a brisk walk, this will be the first of about 5 walks per day including 2 long walks. The second long walk will include the dog park (if permitted by the owner) and can include sniffing and saying hello to other dogs for dogs that cannot tolerate exercise (senior dogs, injured dogs, etc) or more vigorous activity like fetch, frisbee, and pack running with fellow dogs in order to satisfy each breed or mix's need for speed.
The second walk will be followed by a wipe-down and brushing (or a bath if playing in the mud is our furry friend's play of choice).
Another 1-2 meals (according to owners instructions), lots of cuddles, and a couple of trips outside before bed will round out the day!
