About Tena

20 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hi, I'm Tena! I love pets and treat them like family. I can't imagine my life without having at least one four-legged friend in it at all times. Your pet will feel right at home and well cared for.

I live in a quiet, centrally located neighborhood just off of I-35 and Shawnee Mission Parkway. I have a very large, grassy, level backyard with a 3 foot chain link fence so there is plenty of room for your pets to run and play. I also have a nice, heavy duty, covered dog kennel outside which can be used if your dog suffers from extreme separation anxiety, isn't house broken, is prone to jumping fences, digging large holes, or just prefers to hang out in an outdoor kennel when no humans are present. Their time in the kennel would be minimized to only when I am not home and their care and comfort is my top priority. I will never leave any animal unecessarily kenneled. Overnight stays must be done at my house, as I have my own pets to take care of.

Alternatively, I am your resource if all you need is someone to drop by and check on your pets, take them for a walk and refill food and water dishes (or clean litter boxes or change out paper shreddings, etc).

I am comfortable with taking care of special needs pets and administering oral medications.

Where to start? The Hosts' home is under major renovation which was not posted on the website. When my dogs arrived, Tena said the dogs would be in her bedroom so the contractors would not let them out accidently. Not what an Owner wants to hear. The house and yard in no way reflected the pictures online. No visible flooring in the house. We were traveling from out of state en route to a major convention which left no alternative at the last minute or I would have definitely found other venues. Then on pick up day, the host "forgot" the arranged time for retrieval. We were panicked as we did not know what to think of the vacant premises with the dogs inside (ours and others), barking. My dogs went promptly back to their groomer upon arrival home as both smelled of the hosts' home. Not pleasant. Tena probably has good intentions but some significant changes need to happen before I would recommend. Would you leave your dogs in a scenario where construction is under way?
Tena did a great job. I booked last minute for a 5 night stay and she gladly accepted. She has a big backyard where the dogs can play. Babs had a blast and was exhausted when we picked her up. We will definetly use her again!
Tena was great! Drax came home happy, healthy, and worn out from all the play time with other dogs under her care. I was out of the country for five days, but I knew my little buddy was in great hands. Tena loves all dogs and that's apparent in the relationship she has with each dog in her care. I would recommend Tena to anyone and I would absolutely leave Drax with her again.
Was our first time using the site and I was very satisfied with our experience. Tena, was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable leaving our lil fella with her at her home during our vacation.

Hank also seemed to really enjoy the stay and it seemed to be a lot less stressful for him than our previous stay at pet boarders.
I couldn't have asked for a better host! Tena was absolutely wonderful! Chloe had the time of her life and we will definitely be going back!
Tena is a wonderful hostess! It doesn't take long to see that she loves her furry guests and does whatever she needs to do to make both pet and owner feel comfortable. She is very flexible and accommodating. We will definitely be going back to her!
Tena really knows her dogs! Ours is a yellow lab, with anxiety issues. I selected Tena because she was set up similar to what our dog would be comfortable with - being that she had an outdoor pen, allowed the dogs in her house & was comfortable knowing the drooling would stop once Maggie settled in. She did have other dogs at the same time, but she was familiar with each dog's personality and handled them with ease. We don't board often but would definitely come back when we do need to board. Very nice not to know Maggie was not stuck in a kennel at the vet for 10 days! Thanks Tena!
Tena is the best will use her anytime
She is the best!!! Rocky loves going to see Tena!!!
Had a fantastic time! Was great about the last minute booking. Huge back yard!
Tena was great with our dog Sly. She made sure he ate and he got plenty of exercise in her backyard. We'll be using her again!
Tina is amazing dog sitter. My dogs love going there because she has a nice backyard that they could run in. She also comes home from lunch and let them out during the day.
Tena has watched over my two dogs during my two trips out of town. I was nervous leaving my little ones who haven't been too socialized but they did great with Tena. When I told her how nervous I was about leaving me behind, she sent me pictures and videos to ease my nerves. I can tell the dogs had a great time with Tena and I highly recommend her.
Tena is great and took excellent care of our girl! Thanks Tena!
I love how she kept me posted by sending me videos of my Ava. I was worried about leaving her that long but I guess she got comfortable after a while. By the videos, she looked so happy playing with other dogs. Of course she was so excited to see us but she was more calm around people compared to before. I will definitely go back to her. Thanks Tena
Gizmo really seems to have enjoyed himself. He had so much fun, he slept most of the evening when we brought him home. Tena K. is very friendly and she kept us updated with pictures.
Tena was flexible with our schedules and took great care of our pups!
Tena was great! Kooper really enjoyed staying at her house and felt right at home. He came back happy and tired...which, to me, is a really good sign. He even made some new terrier parents know is no small feat! We will definitely be calling on Tena again!
