About Jane

42 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Despite what the listing says, we do respond within hours, especially since the DogVacay phone app is available. We have been a host for six years and in the beginning booking had to be done when you were at your computer, now with the phone app, it is much easier. Both of us work from the house. We love dogs and will love yours as well. Mid-sized secure fenced yard, large house with hardwood floors. Dogs are welcome in all rooms. We have dogs and a bird (no cats). We have raised six children and many types of pets over the years, but dogs are our love. Over 42 years we have owned 14 dogs, large-medium-small, usually 2-3 at a time. They have all been healthy, loved and long-lived. Some were raised from puppies and some were rescues. All were part of the family. It is because of our love for dogs that we have chosen to be a host for DogVacay. We have taken their training and that, coupled with our extensive experience of loving and parenting dogs, creates a safe and loving environment for your dog, while you are away. We are background checked by a variety of organizations and governmental entities. We have chosen not to do it again. Our home is clean and safe and our yard secure. Your dog will be loved and supervised. Your "baby" will be our main focus, while you are away. We only take up to 4 dogs at a time, depending on the dog(s) and their personalities, so we can focus on the special needs of your dog(s). Please understand that this is not a kennel. We are inviting your dog(s) into our home to be part of our family for the length of your absence. Integrating dogs with other dogs takes care and knowledge. We need to know size, health, immunizations, eating habits and behavioral information about your dog(s) in order to make that decision. Please take the time to fill out information about your dog. We cannot make a decision about boarding your dog(s) without this data. Our questions are for the protection of your dog(s), our dogs, and other guest dogs. We are trying to make sure the visit is a positive experience for all involved. We look forward to caring for your dog, while you are away. We are happy to feed your dog a special diet, raw food, mix canned and dry food, etc or give any vitamins or oral medications. We are happy to make sure your dog gets his or her special diet, however, broiling, baking, cooking, chopping, cubing and other individualized preparations of food are above and beyond the normal and there will be an additional charge per meal for such individualized meal preparations. Please do not send your dog with foods other than what he normally eats. "Special New Treats" etc., do not replace you and are more likely than not, to make your dog ill. Please call on us to meet your dog-care needs. Your dog will have his/her own special vacation at our house. We require shot records, and health information. We do NOT take un-spayed or un-neutered dogs. Dogs must be trained and respond to normal commands. We take puppies once they are trained, elderly dogs as long as they can make it outside to do their business. We feed dogs, twice per day, to your exact specifications. However, we do not leave food out. Your dog must be used to eating when food is presented. Leaving food around for grazing, only works for only dogs and does not work in a group environment. Many dogs are on special diets and cannot be lured by foods, which will make them ill. We prefer crate-trained dogs, but do not require them. . We do not use the crates on a regular basis unless your dog prefers it. However, in an emergency, they are good to have.
All photos are taken of fun happenings in and around the house. We cannot walk your dog and manage a camera and a leash at the same time. Please understand. We love dogs and will love yours. If you have any questions, Do not hesitate to call. We look forward to hearing from you. Meet & Greets are necessary to determine if your dog will blend in with other dogs. We have many regular customers who use us for various holidays. The "Repeat Bookings" number is not accurate as it only means repeat bookings within 3-4 months. We have regulars who book every Christmas, Thanksgiving or Memorial Day. These dates are frequently booked months in advance, so if you need a holiday, plan to book early. We hope to meet you soon and to meet your four-legged friend as well.

I always know I have left Ninja in good hands with Jane and Jon. I trust them implicitly and never worry about him while I am gone! I love getting the pictures and Ninja loves hanging out with the Scotties and chasing squirrels in the back yard. Thank you!
Yet another with Jane, Jon and their Scottie crew! I can't imagine leaving Ninja with anyone else, they are such a perfect fit for him! Thank you both so very much!
We are so glad Shelby found a second home with Jane. We could tell right away that this was a dog family. It was a relief to feel comfortable leaving our girl with someone who welcomed her as a member of the family. We enjoyed the pictures Jane sent during her stay. We had more fun on our trip knowing Shelby too was having a great vacation.
