I recently moved to Colorado last August (2015) from Texas, where I was an adoption counselor and Adoption/Volunteer Coordinator at a no-kill animal shelter for three years.
I am currently working at a service dog organization in Henderson, Colorado and live in Lakewood. Prior to my current job, I have worked with dogs at groomers, doggie daycares, and dog boarding facilities. As well as pet sat anf fostered dogs of all ages for the past four years.
I have a large female golden retriever who loves every dog she's ever met and she loves cats as well! I adopted a cat right before moving out here, but do't worry--she thinks she's a dog. I have fostered dogs for the past four years and recently "Foster-failed" with my first Colorado foster dog named SHenzie. She is shy around people but LOVES other dogs!
No dog size is too much or too small for me! I love meeting any new furry friends that come my way. I work at my job Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm and I am more than able to keep dogs overnight. On weekends, my roommate and I typically take our dogs hiking with us or go to dog-friendly places. My roommate has a male, 5 yr old Shih Tzu. My roommate is gone a lot with her dog so usually it is just myself, my two dogs, and my cat in my apartment.
About my yard
I live in an apartment, so do not have a private yard, but my complex has a beautiful lake behind it with walking trails that I walk my dogs on every day.
My experience administering medication
From all of my experience both with pets of my own as well as working with animals for so long, I know how to vaccinate animals, as well as take out sutures and take blood if needed. I also know how to check to see if an animal is hydrated or not and can administer medication orally or any way needed.
