Hello! My name is Lora, and I'm a graduate student at the University of Arkansas and am doing a lot of research from home. I grew up with dogs (I was one month older than one of our three!), and have always loved having my four legged friends around! My husband and I now have two amazing shelter dogs - a wonderfully friendly 65lb, 8.5 year old golden retriever/border collie mix named Athena and a precious 15lb, 7 year old cairn terrier mix named Clover. We have a large, fenced yard and your pups would love to stay 'fur' a while! They'll be treated just like family with plenty of playtime, couch lounging, yummy treats and lots of toys with which to play!
We have been dog-sitting on here for over three and a half years now, and have taken care of over 125 different dogs from more than 95 different families. They have ranged in age from 16 weeks up to 18 years old, and have weighed anywhere from 3lbs to 130lbs!
We do ask that you provide all of the food your dog will need (it helps prevent upset stomachs!), your dog's bed/pillow/blanket, favorite toy (if they have one that they absolutely love - we have plenty of toys here for them to choose from as well!), and any medicine they may need during their stay. They will need to wear a collar with identification while they are here, and you will need to provide proof of vaccinations at the time of drop off for their first stay.
We allow dogs to be dropped off or picked up between 8am and 9pm.
There is an extra $5 per night added for puppies, or dogs that are not spayed or neutered. The reason for this is that puppies require much more supervision and will usually have an accident (or two!) inside, and dogs that are not fixed tend to mark in the house which adds up to a lot of time, money and energy in cleaning.
For a single night stay, our rates start at $25/night, but as per DogVacay's site policy, if pick-up is more than 24 hours after drop-off, a daycare fee may apply.
**At the moment we are usually able to offer 23.5/7 care when needed, with the exception being Sunday mornings for about 2 hours. However, we cannot guarantee 23.5/7 supervision more than two weeks in advance of your reservation. Please contact me with questions about this.**
And finally, our calendar may show that we're unavailable, but it could just be that we have something going on that morning where we wouldn't be able to watch your pooch for the whole day. If you have any questions for us, including availability, please just drop us a quick note, using the links to the side of the page that say "ask host a question"!
At this time we are unable to take dogs with food, dog or toy guarding/aggressive tendencies.
Due to the high demand for dog-sitting services during the holiday season, stays that include any of the following dates will be priced at the sitter’s Holiday Rate (starting at $30/night):
• May 26th – 29th, 2017 (Memorial Day)
• July 1st – 5th, 2017 (Independence Day)
• September 1st – 5th, 2017 (Labor Day)
• November 20th – 26th, 2017 (Thanksgiving)
• December 20th, 2017– January 2nd, 2018 (Christmas and New Year’s)
We do not allow dropoffs or pickups on Thanksgiving Day, nor from 4pm on Christmas eve until 8am on December 26th.
Also, we do have clients outside of this platform, and DogVacay does not allow us to control our calendar to say "booked" unless the dogs are part of this site. Instead of marking ourselves as "unavailable" every time we have guests that are not part of this site, we have set our booking limit low, so we show "booked" even if we are not at capacity. We accept up to six dogs for overnight stays, not two. We usually have three to four overnight guests on average, but it just depends. If you have questions, please ask!
