**I am booked/busy with grad school applications and travel through the new year. If you've booked with me before, feel free to be in touch about my availability, as I may be around for shorter stays or walks, or able to recommend another sitter. I'll be available for new customers again in late January (visible on my calendar). Thanks for understanding!
I am a dog-loving young professional who grew up with a dog in the home (Buster, the shaggy black dog by a water fountain in a photo), worked at doggy daycare for three years and now volunteer with dogs and other animals at the Washington Humane Society. On each walk I take with your dog, I use ResQwalk, an app that tracks my distance and donates money to a local animal shelter for every mile I walk. I work 8:30-5 in DC, so I ask that all dogs are comfortable staying home alone during the work day. I am happy to travel by metro, bus or bikeshare to sit for your dog!
With my basic boarding and sitting rates, I offer up to 3 walks or a walk and a dog park run each day, and treats and toys from Barkbox to play with if your dog stays at my home. When possible, I will take guest dogs for (on-leash) romps in nearby Rock Creek Park, and former guests have joined me on daytrips to dog-friendly pumpkin patches and wineries. Pups sleep in the main room or bedroom, and they are welcome on the furniture (as long as that's OK with you). I am also happy to help work to reinforce good behavior and training with your dog during their time with me.
If your dog is staying at my home please bring:
- a crate (if your dog is crated when home alone), a bed, or both
- food for the entire stay plus 2 days (just in case)
- food and water bowls
- any special toys/treats your dog loves
- medication (if needed)
I am only able to care for puppies under two years old at owners' homes because my home is not puppy proof. I travel mostly by transit so my sitting locations are constrained by the transit system in DC.
If you're hoping to have a dog-sitter for the holidays or have other pets at home, please send me a message about my holiday, weekend daycare in your home (perfect for daytrips!) and other pet rates (cats, birds, small rodents, fish, etc.). I also have experience assisting with engagement photos as a dog handler, and would be happy to work with you to include your furry family member in your special event.
Note: My daycare and walking rates are for weekends, holidays and evenings only, because of my 8:30-5 work schedule.
If I'm not available on your preferred dates, I highly encourage you to board with my boyfriend and fellow DogVacay Sitter, Marcus G. at Reliable Dog-Sitter with Car. Marcus and I live together so if I am unable to care for your pup at my place he may also be unavailable.
