About Karin

We've played host to dozens of foster dogs from Chihuahuas to English Mastiffs and pretty much everything in between. We love dogs and are able to provide your pet with a safe, caring, dependable home away from home. We can't currently foster rescue dogs because the multi-month commitment required doesn't work well with Karin's current work travel schedule, but our dog Hobbes and we miss having furry friends around. We will only take dogs when both of us are home in DC in order to ensure your dog gets the maximum attention and care.

We offer:
- Three guaranteed walks a day. Karin works a few blocks from home and comes home for lunch and noon dog walks.
- We will treat your dog as our own. Cuddles and playtime!
- Pickup and drop off services.
- Doggie siblings half price and discounts for long term (7+ days) stays. We don't want expensive dog care to hold you back from enjoying a vacation or going to a family event. We've been there and know how quickly pet costs can add up. We're committed to offering reasonable rates along with great service.

About our dog:
Hobbes is a calm 6-year-old pit bull mixed breed. He was our very first foster dog but we fell in love with him and had to keep him forever. He's obedience-trained, friendly and great with dogs large and small. He was even selected to appear on Fox and Friends to advertise DogVacay because of his great temperament!

About our home:
We live in a dog friendly, 24-hour doorman, elevator building downtown. Dogs allowed on beds and couches for cuddles and naps. :)

About us:
Karin works for the government (like everyone in DC) and comes from a pet-loving family. She planned to be a veterinarian until an unfortunate cat allergy got in the way of that dream. Brian is a hockey-playing elementary school teacher who grew up with multiple golden retrievers. We are recent transplants from NYC to DC and are looking forward to using long dog walks to explore our new city!

Karin & Brian are always super flexible and Spunky loves staying with them! Normally, she'll bark or try to leave with us when we drop her off with someone else, but she easily leaves with them leaving us reassured. They're awesome, and obviously take great care of their host pups. Thanks!
Karin took such good care of our dog, Mister! We got regular updates with lots of pictures of all the fun stuff he was up to. We felt like Mister was in really good hands and couldn't be happier.
Awesome, awesome, awesome
Awesome, awesome. Karin and Brian watched Ella during Snowzilla. Great pictures of her enjoying the snow. Simply the best hosts one could find in DC!
Karin and Brian are the best. They accepted a short notice weekend request and both picked up and returned Ella for me. As always Ella had a great time with their dog Hobbes. Just Pawsome!
Karin and Brian treat Ella as a member of the family. I appreciate the daily photo/text updates Amazingly flexible and helpful. Your pup will be in heaven. Tom M
Karin and Brian (and Hobbes) are awesome hosts. This was my first Dog Vacay experience and was very positive. I got daily updates and photos. My dog Ella got great care. If you are in the Mt. Vernon Triangle and need great care for your dog- call Karin!
I had to leave town on short notice for work and Karin and Brian were available to take Leila within one hour of me reaching out to them. Like Leila's first visit to them, Karin and Brian were excellent! They treated Leila like she was their own dog and sent numerous picture updates! I would highly recommend having Karin and Brian watch your dog anytime! Of all the DogVacay hosts I have used in the past, they are my favorite.
Every step of the process with Karin and Brian was simple! They let us come meet them at their apartment to take a look around and ease our minds as this was the first time we were leaving Leila with non-family members while on vacation. Their apartment was clean and inviting for both human and canine guests. Everyday, Karin and Brian would send us picture and video updates! They answered any questions we had before, during or after the experience. We strongly recommend Karin and Brian to anyone looking for a reliable sitter in Downtown DC. They made us much more comfortable with going on vacation and being able to not worry about our fur baby!
