****** We are heartbroken to update our listing. Yesterday (3/25) we had to say goodbye to our beloved Trixie. She was just the coolest and we are lost without her. We have a VacayPup here visiting and it has been a lifesaver. She is affectionate and comforting and has kept us in our routine. We would still love to host as the house is going to feel too empty. We will update as soon as we adopt a new dog. Thanks to all of our guests and repeat guests - and people who have reached out to schedule meet-n-greets - for your support. This has been such a cool experience for all of us - we love having the company and so did Trixie.
Our house is home to Trixie - a yellow lab - one of the most friendly and easygoing dogs in town. She is wonderful with other dogs and very welcoming to every dog (and human) guest we have had. She is great with dogs bigger than her, and little ones alike. We have a ranch-style home in Old Colorado City with a very big fenced yard. Trixie loves sunning herself on the deck or sniffing around the perimeter of the yard. We also have 5 chickens, but they stay secured in their coop/run area. They are not accessible to the dogs, but Trixie likes to take naps by their coop.
We are so close to Bear Creek Dog Park that it is not uncommon for us to take a trip there mid-afternoon. Josh works full time but is usually home by 4pm (leaves at 6:30). Shivawn works part time - 3 days per week (usually 8-5). Trixie goes out when Josh gets up and again before Shivawn leaves (3 days - otherwise she comes in and out throughout the day). We have had visiting dogs many times to include a Kerry Blue terrier, two small poodles, a French bulldog, and several larger breeds. We would love to adopt more dogs someday but as you - the reader - likely know, it can be difficult to find someone to trust with your buddy when you're away. We love to travel and do so as much as we can with Trixie, but there have been times we cannot take her. We would love to offer a safe, happy place for your dog to stay while you're away!
