About Andy

15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
*** I accept cat clients too! Ask me about my rates for this service! ***

At NorthWest Pet Sanctuary your pup will be treated like one of the pack! I strive to stick as closely to my clients' regular schedules as possible for the ultimate sense of calm and ease of transition into boarding or sitting. I love to take my clients on leisurely strolls in the neighborhood and through the nearby parks, as well as plenty of safe, supervised outdoor playtime. When it's hot, we like to hit the nearby Wissahickon doggie beach to cool down and enjoy frozen pet-approved/pet-safe treats! So you don't miss out on all the fun, you'll receive ample photo and text updates about your furry friend's activities while you're away!

I am a 33 year-old social worker by day and animal-whisperer by night. I have been a pet owner all of my life and feel comfortable with all breeds of dogs, cats, and other domestic friends. I have cared for farm animals (Quakertown, PA) as well as volunteering at the Aark Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (Chalfont, PA). I also worked with the company, "A Friend" Pet Sitters, based in Brooklyn, NY for approximately five years. I am professional, responsible, friendly, and reliable.

Basic attention involves feeding, changing of water, structured walks, and lots of personal attention and playtime for your best friend(s). Additional services may include home-cooked meals and medication administration for special needs animals, as well as plant-watering and mail pick-up if needed. I am also happy to care for any resident cats, fish, or other pets in your home.

I live in East Mt. Airyk, and share anicely-sizede smoke-free home withmy wife and three catsk. We have a smal, fenced backyard and agreat deck out back for bird and squirrel-watchingg. The house is woe storie, with several steps up to the front door,s and may not be great for large, elderly dogs with mobility issues. However, I am happy to provide care for animals in their own homesin certain situations.

I understand and am accommodating to the unique needs of each individual animal and provide outstanding service to ensure the minimum amount of stress on your pet while "their person" is away. I will do my best to stick to your pet’s “routine” in your absence, including use or non-use of crates, preferred feeding and walking times, etc. I do request that all dogs in my care wear collars that fit securely and cannot be pulled over the dog’s head, with ID and any vaccination tags or licenses you may have. Additionally, all pets visiting my home are required to maintain an up-to-date flea and tick prevention regimen. I also request that your dog is either house or pee pad-trained to prevent damage to my home.

In the unlikely event that your pet may need medical attention in your absence, you may rest assured that they will receive immediate and sophisticated care. I have worked with blind, deaf, epileptic, and diabetic animals. I am certified in pet CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross and have established relationships with the best local veterinarians.

Big dog? Aggressive towards other animals? Let's talk. In most cases, I feel fully competent, but your animal may be better suited for pet-sitting (your home) versus boarding (my home).

The prices listed on my profile are general/guideline prices. Boarding/sitting rates are for periods of 24 hours, but I am happy to offer pro-rated daycare if you need additional time to pick up your pet. I am flexible within reason and will work within your budget to ensure that your pet is cared for in a way that is affordable for you! Additional rates will be incurred for the care of more than one animal. I prefer to deliver custom quotes for each of my clients after discussing the desired services and conducting a meet-n-greet.

While I will accept occasional last-minute bookin for known clientsgs, I prefer to do in-home "meet and greets" before boarding dogs, so please try to book with enough advanced notice to schedule one if possible. This is to ensure the safety of your pets, as well as my own!

Local client references and criminal background check also happily offered for your peace of mind.

***Ask me about how to save $10 on your first DogVacay booking!***

No dogs? I'm also available for cat or other animal care under DogVacay's premium insurance plan!

*I currently work a typical 9-5 job, with some flexibility in hours. If your pup is unable to be alone for the length of an average workday due to health issues or age, I may only be able to accommodate you on weekends. Please contact me for more information about your desired dates.*

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Andy! He communicated with us throughout our trip, sent wonderful updates and photos, left the house in great condition, and overall allowed us to have a vacation where we were completely confident that our babies (2 dogs and a cat) were in loving, competent hands. We are just praying that Andy is available the next time we need to go away and can't take the pets along...we will be devastated if he isn't!!

We would highly recommend Andy! Andy was super flexible and helpful when it came to taking care of Chips. When we came back from a weekend away Chips was so happy! We will definitely be using Andy's services again!
Great experience once again! It's always a little easier going out of town without my dogs when I know Andy is taking care of them.
Andy was very flexible and easy to work with. I have not been pleased with other hosts who want to nickel and dime you for every walk, potty break, etc. So I was very relieved to meet Andy. There is no doubt Andy is a dog lover through and through and in the business for the RIGHT reasons. He even got my dog worn out just before I arrived home so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Already planning to use Andy again.

Andy took care of my two dogs in my home a few months ago and he was great! I had recently moved here and it was a little daunting to find a new dog sitter in a new city. Andy stayed overnight with my dogs and was great about sticking to their familiar routine as much as possible while I was out of town. He also sent me pictures and updates so I'd know they were doing well. We have another reservation coming up when we go on vacation and it'll be a little easier leaving them knowing they're in good hands!

Andy was amazing! He was great with Esme, who is usually a little nervous around new people. He even sent us pictures while we were out!
Just returned from a week in Punta Cana! As excited as my three dogs were to see me walk through the door, they were that bummed to watch Andy leave. He spent the week in my home which allowed for no disruption of my dogs' schedules. They are fed twice a day and one takes medication twice daily. Everything went as if I never left and was perfect! The dogs and my neighbors absolutely adored him! I'm extremely happy with the experience and would have no hesitation doing this again!

Great experience as always!
Once again, Andy is the absolute best! My two little pooches came home happy and relaxed! We will be back :)
As always, Andy has been beyond fantastic. This is the longest I have left my dog, Laika, with Andy, and she returned in great shape, happy, and energized. It was a better vacation for her than for me. Thank you Andy!
Scoobie had a great time with Andy. Andy went the extra mile making sure during the Meet & Greet that Scoobie was compatible with his own dog. It is clear he is a genuine dog lover. I had complete trust in him in looking after Scoobie. Andy provided text and picture updates and Scoobie came back exhausted (a rare feat). Highly recommend!

Andy provided us with peace of mind during our wedding and honeymoon! My wife and I met through our dogs, Bodie and Ella, and it was very important that they be in our wedding. Andy made this possible by being a thoughtful and attentive chaperone to our pups. Having no worries that they were in the best of hands, we were able to focus on other details of our DIY wedding.

Andy then stayed at our house for 12 nights during our honeymoon and cared for our dogs, cat and plants! The honeymoon was by far the longest we were away from our furry children and it was reassuring to know that they received plenty of love, attention and exercise in our absence. We were kept updated through text messages and photographs, although we didn't have a second thought about their comfort and safety with Uncle Andy at the house. Our only worry was they would miss Andy when we returned!

Andy is a natural. He is compassionate, caring, calm, pleasant, attentive, responsible and very knowledgable. We are so happy that we found a pet sitter that we can count on time and time again!

Our dog, BG, was one happy little pooch after a few walks with Andy. We could rest easy knowing BG was in such good hands.
Andy was a great dog sitter while we were away for a weekend. He came and stayed at our apartment, which meant the dogs got to stay in their own environment. He left the place tidy and the dogs happy, always answered when we called to check in, and was incredibly reliable. It meant we didn't have to worry about leaving the dogs with him despite us being out of contact for some time. We would definitely use him again!

Andy is absolutely the BEST! I can't tell you how wonderful it was to receive daily updates and to pick up my two little pups happy and stress-free. :)
Andy was super easy to coordinate with - from introducing my dogs to his dog, to figuring out logistics. It was clear to me early on that Andy loves pets and looks out for what's best for any pet that crosses his path. He passed on references who were very responsive and effusive in their support of him. Loved getting the updates and photos while we were away, too!

Andy was great, he stayed with my dogs for 3 days in my home. My house looked exactly like I left it and the dogs were well taken care of! Thanks Andy!
I could not have asked for a more perfect dog sitter for my young dog, Lupie Lu. Andy was more than I could have hoped for in a dog sitter.

Lu was exercised and cared for and is even better behaved on a leash than before she stayed with Andy! She received loads of attention, walks, and when she had a tummy upset, she received the care she needed without hassle.

I highly recommend Andy for any of your dog sitting needs. If going out of town, the home care is far superior than kenneling your dog. I came home to a well-adjusted, loving and happy dog!

Andy took great care of my dog and cat over a long weekend. I received a few texts a day with updates and both pets were happy and relaxed when I got back. My dog has some behavior issues and Andy was happy to accommodate any restrictions and requests I had. Great communication and service!

Andy is a fantastic host! We left our dog with him for a weekend and she had a great time playing with Andy’s dog, Dakota. Andy kept us updated regularly through out the weekend. He (Andy) is confident and skillful handling several dogs at a time and truly enjoys doing so. We highly recommend him as a host, and would not think of anyone else to take care of our pup.
