About Andrew

15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
*** I accept cat clients too! Ask me about my rates for this service! ***

At NorthWest Pet Sanctuary your pup will be treated like one of the pack! I strive to stick as closely to my clients' regular schedules as possible for the ultimate sense of calm and ease of transition into boarding or sitting. I love to take my clients on leisurely strolls in the neighborhood and through the nearby parks, as well as plenty of safe, supervised outdoor playtime. When it's hot, we like to hit the nearby Wissahickon doggie beach to cool down and enjoy frozen pet-approved/pet-safe treats! So you don't miss out on all the fun, you'll receive ample photo and text updates about your furry friend's activities while you're away!

I am a 34 year-old social worker by day and animal-whisperer by night. I have been a pet owner all of my life and feel comfortable with all breeds of dogs, cats, and other domestic friends. I have cared for farm animals (Quakertown, PA) as well as volunteering at the Aark Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (Chalfont, PA). I also worked with the company, "A Friend" Pet Sitters, based in Brooklyn, NY for approximately five years. I am professional, responsible, friendly, and reliable.

Basic attention involves feeding, changing of water, structured walks, and lots of personal attention and playtime for your best friend(s). Additional services may include home-cooked meals and medication administration for special needs animals, as well as plant-watering and mail pick-up if needed. I am also happy to care for any resident cats, fish, or other pets in your home.

I live in East Mt. Airyk, and share anicely-sizede smoke-free home withmy wife and three cats. We have a small, fenced backyard and a great deck out back for bird and squirrel-watching. The house is two stories, with several steps up to the front door and may not be great for large, elderly dogs with mobility issues. However, I am happy to provide care for animals in their own homes in certain situations.

I understand and am accommodating to the unique needs of each individual animal and provide outstanding service to ensure the minimum amount of stress on your pet while "their person" is away. I will do my best to stick to your pet’s “routine” in your absence, including use or non-use of crates, preferred feeding and walking times, etc. I do request that all dogs in my care wear collars that fit securely and cannot be pulled over the dog’s head, with ID and any vaccination tags or licenses you may have. Additionally, all pets visiting my home are required to maintain an up-to-date flea and tick prevention regimen. I also request that your dog is either house or pee pad-trained to prevent damage to my home.

In the unlikely event that your pet may need medical attention in your absence, you may rest assured that they will receive immediate and sophisticated care. I have worked with blind, deaf, epileptic, and diabetic animals. I am certified in pet CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross and have established relationships with the best local veterinarians

The prices listed on my profile are general/guideline prices. Boarding/sitting rates are for periods of 24 hours, but I am happy to offer pro-rated daycare if you need additional time to pick up your pet. I am flexible within reason and will work within your budget to ensure that your pet is cared for in a way that is affordable for you! Additional rates will be incurred for the care of more than one animal. I prefer to deliver custom quotes for each of my clients after discussing the desired services and conducting a meet-n-greet.

While I will accept occasional last-minute bookings for known clients, I prefer to do in-home "meet and greets" before boarding dogs, so please try to book with enough advanced notice to schedule one. This is to ensure the safety of your pets, as well as my own!

Local client references and criminal background check also happily offered for your peace of mind.

***Ask me about how to save $10 on your first DogVacay booking!***

No dogs? I'm also available for cat or other animal care under DogVacay's premium insurance plan!

*I currently work a typical 9-5 job, with some flexibility in hours. If your pup is unable to be alone for the length of an average workday due to health issues or age, I may only be able to accommodate you on weekends. Please contact me for more information about your desired dates.*

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Andy! He communicated with us throughout our trip, sent wonderful updates and photos, left the house in great condition, and overall allowed us to have a vacation where we were completely confident that our babies (2 dogs and a cat) were in loving, competent hands. We are just praying that Andy is available the next time we need to go away and can't take the pets along...we will be devastated if he isn't!!
We would highly recommend Andy! Andy was super flexible and helpful when it came to taking care of Chips. When we came back from a weekend away Chips was so happy! We will definitely be using Andy's services again!
Great experience once again! It's always a little easier going out of town without my dogs when I know Andy is taking care of them.
