About Kelsey

18 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
My name is Kelsey.

I am 25 with a part time job that leaves me with a lot of availability. I owned 2 dogs in the past and have always had animals in my life. One was a Shitzu-Terrier cross, she lived until I unfortunately had to put her down at the age of 18. She enjoyed agility classes. The other was an Australian Shepherd (seen in banner photo) that lived until he was 16--he LOVED to swim. I have cared for golden retreivers, border collies, and other dog breeds in the past. Currently I do not have any pets and miss the company.

The house I currently live in belongs to my grandparents. It has a large back yard with plenty of grass, a large deck and garden. The house is two floors but the majority of the space can be closed off. Visiting critters will spend most of their time in the yard, living room, kitchen, and my bedroom (see interior/exterior pictures). I have plenty of matts to lay down for dogs that do not like hardwood flooring. The rundle area has numerous walking paths. Sleeping arrangements will be dependent on the dog. Options include crating, dog beds, my bed, or whatever may be desired. Senior dogs can be accomodated however there are short flights of steps leading in and out of the house (4 stairs max.).

I have also cared for a large variety of other pets and farm animals including fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, cats, birds, horses, cows, donkeys, alpacas.... And the list goes on.

Be sure to let me know the following when booking:
- Length of stay
- Short doggie bio (breed, age, personality, energy level, medical history, favourite activities)
- Daily schedule (feeding times, length of walks)
- Emergency contacts (vet and family member)
And don't forget to bring a leash, dog toys, crate or dog bed, treats, food and any other nececessities your dog may require.

I feel a little unsure about the experience. It was our first time using the app and we were her first customers. The price was great, the yard was perfect for dogs. We didn't get the impression that Kelsey was prepared, experienced, or enthusiastic about the task. We didn't receive any updates while away except the one time I texted her to ask. When we picked them up things were ready to go however she asked me to pick up the poo from the weekend - which was weird to me. I had no problem doing it but other dog sitters I hire generally understand that that's just part of the whole gig and don't leave it for three days. I can't explain why I'm so apprehensive about the experience, maybe it's because I have a 1.5 year old high energy dog and I didn't get the vibe that Kelsey was a dog person - or has ever raised a dog on her own and didn't seem to have any warmth towards my dog. I want my dog to feel loved wherever I drop her off. Kelsey will do the job for an excellent price, but she may be better with older, lower maintenance dogs.
