Hi, I love animals. I grew up with Golden Retrievers, and have had cats, gerbils, turtles and even a chicken at one point. I have one senior cat (a second one died last year of osteosarcoma) that has been with me since college. They have lived with dogs off an on during their lives. When around town I can't stop myself from trying to get any dog or cat's attention. If they're there I am inclined to pet it. As far as pet sitting experience goes, I grew up with pets, as a kid wanted to be a vet, went to SPCA camp (as thrilling as it sounds) and occasionally watch my exes dog (my old pooch, Wally) for weekend trips. While I didn't grow up to be vet, my love for animals of all types remains. I have a pretty substantial yard where we can play catch and get some off leash time. As far as my schedule, I recently transitioned from a full time photography position at an antique auction gallery to freelance, so I work from home a lot. I thought DogVacay/Rover would be a great opportunity to spend time with dogs who could keep me company while i'm working. I usually take a run in the evening, but this would give me an excuse to take breaks throughout the day and get out of the house on some nice, additional walks myself. When i'm watching my old dog, we usually head down the Lafitte Greenway, around Bayou St. John and into City Park. He has a membership to City Bark, so we go there and mingle with the other pups. He's great with other animals and my cats, but I only have him with me every few months. I have a nice, cozy place for your buddy to call home for the day or long weekend. I still have a nice big dog bed for animals to curl up on and provide healthy (but tasty!) treats. I'm up for doing some minor grooming and the occasional bath. I'd love to offer up my place for your pup, and I'll do my best to provide a welcoming environment and update you regularly while away from you.
