I've grown up with pets all my life, mostly boxers. I have a special place in my heart, not just dogs, but all animals. After moving out on my own, I wasn't able to have any pets. A few years later, my mom wasn't able to care for her dog. She said it would only be a few months I had to watch him. By the time those months past, I couldn't give him up, nor did he want to go back with her.. My boys (Max and diesel) are not just my dogs; they are my kids.
I try to take them to the park everyday for their exercise and play time. At the very minimum an hour. Unfortunately, there are those days that get away from me (maybe once a week) and can't make it to the park on time. So we'll play inside. I'll hide treats around the house for them to find. Once the day is over, we all get to cuddle and sleep together. They somehow manage to take over the bed and I end up with just the corner. But I wouldn't have it any other way, because I know my boys are comfortable.
I used to volunteer at the Bonita Animal Shelter. Sadly only for a few months. While there, my priority was to play and walk the bigger dogs. I figured they needed more time outside and considering most volunteers would focus on the smaller pups.
