Hi, I'm Meghan, and I've had dogs my whole life. I've been the primary caregiver for all dogs in my house for about 15 years now. I've had a few dogs with behavior issues that I was able to work through, so friends and neighbors have often asked me and my husband to help out with some basic training and behavior issues their own dogs have had.
My home is well-suited for most dogs except large ones that cannot handle a few steps. I live on the islands so my house is slightly elevated. If your senior dog is small enough to carry down the steps, I would be happy to do that for them so they don't have to struggle with stairs. There is a swimming pool for any water dogs, but fear not if your pooch cannot swim. My Frenchie can't either, so I am always outside when she is, watching her and the pool like a hawk to ensure no one falls in.
This is my only job, so I will be home for the day most of the time, though I do sometimes need to leave the house to run errands or just for the occasional social outing. I'll let your fur babies out first thing when I wake up, then after breakfast we'll either play outside in the yard (weather permitting) or find something fun to do inside (my dog loves to play chase with other dogs). We'll take a nice walk around the neighborhood in the late afternoon/evening before dinner time, and then relax after feeding until bedtime. Of course, they will get as many potty breaks as they want out in the yard.
***If your dog has severe separation anxiety, or if you think they might have it while being in a stranger's home, PLEASE inform me. It is ok, and there are things I can do to mitigate it. I do not mind taking care of your anxious dog. I do, however, mind not being informed and having thousands of dollars worth of damage done to my home that could have been prevented if I had known that a dog should be crated overnight, or if you could have asked your vet for medication to help out and have me administer it.***
Although I have no issues sitting any particular breeds, if your dog is very high-energy (like a typical Husky or a Pitbull), I may not be your best bet. I can only do one 20-30 min walk per day, plus all the backyard playtime they want. If you have an atypically lower-energy dog of a breed that is usually high-energy, I welcome you to bring them on over. My pup and I look forward to having a blast with your furbabies!
