About Danielle

10 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Welcome to the perfect Vacay destination for your petite pup! Nestled in a retreat-like setting near McInnis park off of Smith Ranch Road in beautiful Marin County, your small doggie will be treated like one of our own. We are a married couple who love spending our free time caring for dogs and our experience being hosts with has been an absolute blast. We can't wait to welcome your pup into our home for a relaxing yet playful Vacay. We only board a couple dogs at a time so you can be sure we will give your dog personal care and attention.
Who we are:
My name is Danielle and I am a Social Worker for the County of Marin. My husband is Jean Marie and he is a waiter at Smith Ranch Homes as well as a student. Both of us work approximately 3-5 minutes away from our home! We are the proud fur parents of a sweet beagle/terrier daughter named Xochitl. Xochitl is approximately 5 to 6 years old (she was a local rescue from Marin Humane Society which we have had for 4 wonderful years). She is super friendly and gets along with all dogs and is very submissive. Xochitl's apprehension about large dogs inspired us to open our condo exclusively to small dogs. Xochitl loves small dogs and is quite a gracious host. We know it can be scary for small dogs in a big dog's world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What we offer:
Our condo is located a couple minutes walk from McInnis Park off of Smith Ranch Road in San Rafael. We are right next to open space and TONS of trails. We offer many scenic dog walks and activities for pups to explore while on DogVacay.
Please rest assured we will give your small dog a fun, comfortable experience. We welcome all types of small dogs into our home as a boarding service. Accepting only one to two dogs at a time means that your dog will have lots of attention and they will live in a relaxed, calm environment. We offer multiple park walks per day as well as occasional hikes, a patio for sunning fur and lots of love and attention. We also offer an optional morning dog run for the more active dogs. We own our condo and live on the ground floor which works well for senior pets with mobility issues. We are experienced with dogs who take medication.
My husband Jean Marie cared for dogs on DogVacay for 2 months while I was in Europe in February and March 2017. Here is what DogVacay dog owners had to say about him:
I was looking for an alternative to a big kennel for my dog Toby and his stay with Danielle worked out perfectly. When I picked him up, he was happy and stress-free. Danielle responds very quickly to emails and texts and sent lots of photos of Toby enjoying his walks. Danielle and her husband are easy-going and flexible. Definitely plan to use Danielle again.
My pup Fuji is a 12 y/o 19 pound Shih Tzu Tibetan Spaniel mix and he's never been boarded at a kennel or overnighted at someones' home. I met Danielle several times with her dog Xochitl and one of several other pups that she had taken into her care on walks I'd take in our neighborhood. Every time he saw Danielle it was obvious to me that Fuji trusted and liked her. I also noted that he liked her dog Xochitl too. So I finally asked Danielle to take Fuji in for the recent MLK weekend and then took my first (albeit brief) vacation in years. Every day of his stay Danielle sent me photos of Fu with updates about his experience being there. He was obviously feeling calm and having a great experience. When I reunited with him he acted frosty and jazzed. I think it was one of the best experiences he's had in his pup life and so now I'm looking forward to taking another (and longer) vacation in the coming year. Bottom line: Danielle is THE person you should contact if you're a "worried (s)mothering small dog owner" like me. ;)
We had a very nice experience with Danielle and her husband. Danielle is very experienced and low key in her manner and interactions. Easy to get along with, punctual and very accommodating related to any special instructions/concerns.
Having the option/opportunity to leave our dog with an individual/home rather than being kenneled was a great solution, and the process/vetting etc... of DodVacay is excellent
