Hi! My name is Marena. I've owned and been around dogs my whole life. My current dog, Mako is a 5 year old Boxer that we recently rescued earlier this year. Before rescuing Mako, my parents and I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Simon. We rescued Simon around age 2, and he spent the next 13 years with us until passing away last summer. As Simon got older and he developed arthritis and tumors. Because of this, I've learned how to handle dogs who just can't get around like they used to anymore as well as administering medications. Though older dogs don't have as much energy as the young pups, they do have a special place in my heart. I'm preparing to move into a new house with my fiancé and sister. The house has an open floor plan, a big yard, and a swimming pool perfect for taking a break from the Florida heat. I worked for about three years as a dog bather and an assistant to a professional groomer. I can do just about any service besides cutting a dog's hair, including bathing, expressing the anal glands, blow drying, trimming the nails, cleaning ears and brushing teeth and hair. In my years as a bather and grooming assistant, I experienced many different breeds of dogs and dogs with different socializing skills. I'm comfortable both with dogs that love everything and everyone and dogs that prefer to be left alone. I currently work as a waitress, and my shifts are typically no more than 6 hours at a time. However, with three people in the house, all on different schedules, there is almost always someone home or on their way home.
