About Connie

35 Years Experience Caring For Dogs

Custom quoted discounts for 2 dogs.
I have many years experience with dogs, cats and horses. I have fostered dogs for different rescue agencies. I would love to care for your dog in our home. Our family consists of myself, my husband and our 15 year old daughter. We have 2 dogs, Olive who is a 4 year old Rottweiler and Dean who is a 10 year old Lab mix. Both are rescue dogs. They love anyone and anything. We also have 2 cats that do interact with the dogs. Last but not least 3 Morgan horses. We have over an 1 acre with a large fenced in back yard, We do have a pool. I primarily work from home during the day. I am a registered nurse and I work for Division of Developmental Disabilities. I would love to have the opportunity to care for your dog. Please feel free to call.
About Connie A.:
We love all kinds of animals. We will provide a clean and pet friendly home for your dog when you can't. Spoil your precious puppy (and/or family pet) while you are away. Email me to set up a meet and greet so you and your pet can say hi for the first time, We would love to meet you and see if we are a good match to watch your dog or dogs.
How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.
I have been a dog lover for as long as I can remember. I have had dogs since I was 3 years old. I have had several types of breeds but love all dogs.
What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?
No breed preference. Any medical or allergy concerns. Do they adjust well to new settings? I just want to make sure your dog is comfortable and feels secure in my home.
Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?
Yes, I use Chaparral Veterinarian Clinic 5 mins from my house. Plus I have access to several veterinarians by phone.
Are you comfortable administering medication?
Yes, I can certainly be sure your dog gets his meds exactly as you specify. I will even do injections if you will demonstrate your methods for me.
How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?
20+ hours per day
If you have a backyard, please describe it.
1/2 acre fenced in with pool. I do have a barn with 3 horses. Our horses are very dog friendly since they are used to our dogs. We have no grass. I have a nice fully fenced-in yard, perfect for soaking up some sunshine and spending a long afternoon playing endless games of tug o' war.
What to expect during your dog’s stay:
• My goal is to let them run around and play as much as possible while ensuring they are safe.
• I have a covered patio, a large back yard and a pool (it has large steps and your dogs is welcome to swim!).
• Depending on the time of year/weather, larger dogs spend as much time playing in the back yard as possible. Smaller dogs run around outside plenty, but usually spend more time inside throughout the day. The yard is center block with pool fencing next to our riding ring. We have two gates.
• Everyone eats separate to avoid conflicts and so they don’t eat each other’s food.
• For hotter times of the year or for smaller dogs, your dog will get to go outside in the morning, at least three times during the day (usually 15-20 minutes each) and at night when it cools down. During my breaks from work, I let them out and give them fresh water.
• Photos are sent roughly every other day. I send photos less frequent for longer stays. I don't want to interrupt your travels, but want you to feel comfortable with how your dogs is doing.
• I do ask that you let me know in advance when you would like to schedule drop-off and pickup. I am usually pretty flexible during the day if I know in advance. I do drop-off/pickups Monday-Friday from 7:30am – 10pm and Saturday/Sunday from 9am-9pm. I realize flights often get delayed, so you can send me your flight info and I have a flight tracker app. No worries if your flight is delayed, we can always just add an extra day if needed.
• I do host multiple dogs at a time. Depending on the time of year and size of dogs, I will host 1-4 guest dogs at a time. I introduce dogs individually and watch initially to make sure everyone gets along. Wagging tails are always a good sign : ) We have never had any issues with this approach. I DO NOT accept dogs that are not friendly to Dean and Olive during Meet and Greets!
• Please bring your dog’s blankets, food, and any treats/toys you would like them to have. Really whatever you feel will make them the most comfortable. I have plenty of bowls, bones, and toys as well.
• They will be happy, healthy, and pretty worn out! They may not even want to go home!
Where will my dog sleep?
Has free reign of the house. Your dog is welcome to sleep wherever he feels most comfortable or your pet may sleep in kennels inside or outside based on your preference. I have 3 larger kennels available (36”, 42”, 48”) or you can bring your own. I don’t like kenneling dogs, but I am responsible for any damages to my home so the options are limited. I have a lot of dogs stay that are not use to kennels, but I have never had an issue with them getting accustomed (being away from home, most dogs seem to find it comforting).
• When they are inside during the day, I either let them lay around my office while I work (assuming they are quiet/don’t snore) or let them sleep in their kennel.
Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.
I walk my dogs daily in the evening. We go for about 30-40 mins.

Connie was amazing! This was the first time that Arya - our 10 month old Rottweiler- was away from us so we were a bit nervous. Connie was so understanding. Sent photos and updates on how she was doing. Connie was also patient with Arya who can be a handful. So appreciated everything Connie did. Will definitely have Arya stay with her again.
Connie was great. She kept us completely up to date with how are Golden was doing with all the other dogs in her care. I would highly recommend her to anyone!!
Our 8-month old English Lab was treated just like a member of Connie's family, which meant the world to us. Great communications and photos from Connie while our little girl "vacationed" with her in our absence; it gave us great peace of mind. We recommend Connie's service to others without hesitation.
Marley our puggle felt right at home. Everything he was used to at home (doggie door, nice yard to run, feel a part of the family) he got with Connie. Connie is an animal lover no doubt. I would recommend her to watch your loved one.
Connie and her husband are wonderful to my dogs! They love them. They are very accommodating about when I drop them off and pick them up which means a lot to me.
Truly grateful for such compassionate service. We had just moved here from the mid west and had to fly back for an emergency after being here only a week. I know no one out here and Connie took him in last minute. I thought my little Biggie was going to freak out. She was very reassuring and made me feel at ease with all the updates and pics she sent me throughout the day. The Bigster was excited and happy as can be when I picked him up. She gave me great info and recommendations for me to begin his care out here.

I also just noticed she filed his nails for me! LOL...Thanks!
Connie goes above and behind for her clients. I know my dogs are safe, well cared for and happy at her house.
Connie did a great job with our dogs. Her dogs were wonderfully friendly, and I could tell how experience she was taking care of other people's animals. She also sent pictures every day which made it much easier to be away. No doubt will use her services again.
Our dog Dakota was a rescue and had only been away from our family once before. Connie was very accommodating in the time we could drop her off and we were able to pick her up on a holiday. Dakota had plenty of space to run around. Connie also sent me text message updates with photos and comments on how Dakota was doing. We are very grateful that Connie took such great care of Dakota and we will definitely use her again! Shelly C.
Connie and her family are amazing with our 3 dogs. Always happy wagging tails and excitement when I pull into her driveway to drop them off. Simply awesome!
Assisi my dobie had a great time with Connie she is awesome. I didn't worry one time. I got pictures and her dogs were friendly and they played the whole time. When I picked him up Connie had bathed him he smelled so good I couldn't stop kissing him. Thanks Connie Warm regards Linda
Our pups (5 pound yorkie and lab mix) love going over to see her!! They come back happy, tired, loved and clean! We will continue to have the pups stay here!
Nice big yard and there is a swimming pool for the dogs, which is great in the Arizona heat.
Not only was this our first time using Dogvacay, it was the first time we had ever sought a pet sitter. Needless to say we were a bit nervous but from the moment we met with Connie we knew everything would be fine. Our over sized Golden-Doodle was well taken care of and Connie communicated to us throughout the week letting us know how he was doing. We had great piece of mind and Connie took on a shadow as Tucker never let her out of his sight! We will absolutely contact Connie again to care for Tucker!
We are incredibly pleased with our dog, Lucky's, recent 14 day stay here!

Lucky, our 10 year old lab, had to receive medication while there for allergies. Not only did Connie give the meds, she also sent pics almost daily and made sure to update us on his allergies.

We were thrilled with his care at Connie's. In fact, we have an upcoming trip to Europe and are scheduling Connie to care for our Lucky dog again.
Connie was fantastic! My girls were very well taken care of and we received updates eight photos regularly. I have a high anxiety rescue puppy who is challenging to work with, Connie was very patient and Charlie bonded with her before the end of the week. I would highly recommend and will definitely be a repeat customer!
Great, great, great! Loving home. Safe environment. Lots of fun. Wonderful hosts.
We had such an amazing experience having Connie and her family watch our English Mastiff "Milo"!
He was taken care of so well and spoiled with loving attention. With that said, it was also like we enrolled him in obedience training for the week for FREE!! Connie knows how to handle all different kinds of behavior in dogs and teaches them what is acceptable and not. When we picked him up you can tell that he was kept in line because he was more attentive and was a better listener! Thank you Connie for treating Milo like he was your own!
You are now officially his "Step Parent"!! We will call you to watch him all the time!

What can I say… My fur baby is a part of my family and means the world to me… And Connie is awesome! We took a day to check out Connie's facilities and they are amazing! My dog loves visiting and staying with Connie so much that when I went to pick her up… She ignored me… she gets to run free with other dogs and play in the pool! Whenever we drive into the driveway she gets so excited that she howls! Words cannot explain how awesome Connie is… I would highly recommend Connie…
We are very happy with Nixie's stay with Connie. She came home happy and Connie even gave her a bath before we picked her up, and giving a standard poodle with a lot of hair is not easy! We will definitely take Nixie to Connie again!
Connie is great! Yukon loves spending time at Make Your Paws at Home and always comes home happy, healthy and clean. We highly recommend Connie!
We felt very good about leaving Lucy with Connie and when we picked her up, she was freshly bathed and we could tell she enjoyed her stay. Connie seems to be very personally involved with all the animals she cares for. We hope to use her again.
Everything went perfect with our stay and Connie was very helpful throughout the process. We are now repeat customers!
Connie and Family are perfect hosts for my beloved Mikko. He always comes home happy and tired. I no longer feel guilty for leaving him behind when getting away for a spell, since he obviously is so content there, that he enthusiastically jumps out of the car when we drop him off.
Fabulous environment for any dog. Lots of room to run and play. Connie and her family treats Rusty as if he was there own.
Connie did a wonderful job looking after our Vizsla for 10 days. She sent regular photo updates, mainly of how tired he was !

She made him feel like one of her family, he was returned happy + healthy and we will definitely be booking with Connie again.
Connie gave Bella a lot of loving care. Also, I was very impressed with how clean everything in her home was considering she had several dogs and cats. I would definitely recommend Connie as a pet sitter and will use her again if the occasion arises.
This was our second stay with Connie and everything went perfectly. The pups were happy and well taken care of!
Connie is wonderful - this was the 2nd stay for our pups - Colonel 7 y.o. retriever and Micah 9 y.o. sheltie with some minor health issues - they returned home happy, healthy, clean and with no anxiety or separation issues.

Connie kept us informed during their 10 day stay with photos and emails which was much appreciated.

Connie was a great host to my dogs, Bobbie & Darcy. Darcy was exhausted when he got home because of playing with Sam all weekend. That's wonderful cause we were exhausted from our weekend as well. The dogs were both healthy and happy at pick up. She sent us pictures and updates on them. This was Darcy's first time away from home, while Bobbie has been to so called Pet Resorts in the past. This was so much better for her. When I picked her up they were both happy to see me and seemed relaxed too. Thank you, Connie for doing such a great job with my dogs.
Our dogs lived their stay with Connie! She texted us pictures of them daily , playing with new friends and enjoying themselves. She's great at making introductions with new dogs !
Mikko's 7 day experience at Connie's was wonderful, yet again. She, and family, were so very accommodating when we had to do a very early drop off due to our flight schedule. She sent me photos daily, by text, of a very content and well loved pup, who had his own vacation at Connie's pup resort. He swam and played and chilled with the family and their pets. I never have to feel guilty about leaving Mikko when going on vacation with my hubby. Because, I know he is vacationing, too. Thanks, so much Connie!
Our dogs had a wonderful stay with Connie. I felt extremely comfortable leaving them in Connie's care since I knew they were treated as part of the family. A lot of play and interactions with her other dogs, as well as cats & horses:). Wagging tails, making new friends - couldn't be happier about this 5 star vacation home for our dogs. -Thank you Connie!
Connie and her family were wonderful hosts for Mikko. He had lots of fun playing with their dogs and swimming with them in their pool. She was so accommodating, as this trip was a bit short notice. Connie sent me photos twice a day, so I know how happy he was. We will definitely be back!
Connie and Bob were great dog sitters. The kids came back happy and healthy!
Connie is amazing! My pups have stayed with her a couple times now and I couldn't ask for anything more. She has a huge yard and the dogs get to play all day long - they always come home so tired and happy it's great!
Connie was simply awesome and I know my pup Moto had a great time. It was great to get daily photo updates of him playing with other dogs. It took all of the anxiety away from leaving him for 9 days. I would highly reccomend her and would use her in the future.
