About Gail

14 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I LOVE dogs! Grew up with a miniature schnauzer and was a full time dog mom for nine years to Rusty, a small terrier rescue mix. Since then, I've been dog sitting and have fostered about 10 different rescue dogs. Dog sitting is a pleasure as I can establish long term friendships with neighborhood pups and their parents. I treat each dog with sensitivity, mindful that each is unique in personality and needs.

My large one bedroom apartment is in Cobble Hill, just a few blocks from Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6, two dog runs and Cobble Hill Park. Love long walks! I'm a writer, currently working from home, so he/she will have lots of company and playtime. There are toys, beds, blankets, treats, love and more....

I'm particular about the dogs I care for (no aggressive dogs), partial to small and medium dogs... chemistry is everything. Meet and greet preferred.

A little more about me: I'm originally from Oklahoma, have been in NYC for over 20 years and am trained in yoga, Reiki and other healing modalities. I will treat your beloved pet with the same loving care and sensitivity that I gave my own Rusty.

For holiday weekends, there may be an additional charge.

Gail's apartment, close to BK Bridge Park and a few dog runs, would make a great place for your pup's dogvacay! Her current schedule allows her to work from home, so your pup won't be left alone for too long. She has had plenty of dog experience from owning a dog for nine years to fostering several rescue dogsā€”so your dog will be in great hands!

We never expected our hound to suddenly take an extreme downturn in health while we were traveling abroad, have to be taken to the emergency room and then be put to sleep. Which is not to say that he was in good health when we dropped him off at Gail's. He had been diagnosed with kidney problems, was increasingly lethargic and at twelve years was certainly an old Cairn terrier. But dogs can be hard to read. We will ever be grateful that he was in good hands with Gail, whose thorough and sensitive communications guided us through his last, distant days, and whose commitment to him included springing into action in ways that were never planned for. Such loving care for a dog in distress is what one hopes for. With Gail as caregiver, one can count on it.

Our 6-month old puppy just stayed with Gail for the weekend and we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. This was the first time our puppy has ever stayed with anyone for longer than a few hours, and she is very timid and anxious around new people. Gail has a lot of experience with dogs and has fostered several rescues. It is clear that she is very attentive to each dog's unique personality and needs. She sent us frequent photo updates and took our girl on multiple walks and dog-park trips per day. She lives very close to the Pier 6 dog-run (our pup's favorite), so she got dog socialization time over the weekend, which was great. We felt totally comfortable with leaving our pup with Gail- she is very personable, flexible, and exudes warm, loving energy. I whole-heartedly recommend her for any boarding, day care, or dog walking needs!

Absolutely the perfect host!! Argon was happy and content all day long. Gail sent texts and pictures. It was like he was with us all day. Gail goes above and beyond as a host. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone!
Gail was an awesome with our rescue dog Sofia, giving her attention, care and lots of love- plus plenty of pics for her parents :) Sofia is a bit of a nervous dog and Gail was extremely thorough in discussing how best to care for her and following through to help deal with her specific needs. I would definitely use Gail again and highly recommend her!

Gail is the BEST Dogsitter! PIper was happy and tired when she came home and I know she had a lot of walks and love. I am pretty sure she slept on Gail's bed!! Piper needed medication each day and Gail was really careful to make sure that happened. Caring for dogs that are in a new home takes a special kind of person, Gail knows how to make the dog (and the owners) comfortable and secure. She gets 5 stars!!
