Walks on trails, sandy beaches, toys, beds to take a snooze, loads of attention... dogs are pretty darn happy here. Be confident that they'll be safe and cared for expertly as I have watched pets for over 10 years. I especially am perfect for small to medium dogs who are mellow sorts. The environment is peaceful here. And, as a bonus, your pup gets a new canine friend in the form of my terrier mutt, Rosie.
What *you* get is peace of mind (and lots of great photos of your dog).
What dogs can stay at my place:
- under 40 pounds
- low to no barkers, no exceptions
- up to 2 dogs from the same household, no mixing of clients
- with medical needs, pills and potions
What can pups expect?
Care and companionship almost all day (I do have appointments sometimes). My dog, Rosie, is a 6 year-old, friendly terrier-mix, and likes other dogs. I walk her about three times per day, once in the morning, longer in the afternoon, and then a spin around the block before bedtime. However, if more breaks are needed, that is fine.
I have sat for dogs and have received unanimously enthusiastic reviews. See my reviews from other dog owners. However, here are some excerpts:
“Kelly was great, sent us photos every day, and truly had a great time with our pup! She was very flexible with drop-off times.”
“…highly recommend Kelly for anyone who wants to ensure their dog will get the same love and attention they're used to.”
“Scout takes medicine every morning and Kelly was great about administering it to her. When I came to pick Scout up, she ran over to say hello, and then quickly ran back into the apartment to continue playing with her new dog friend and toys!”
Where will they be?
Artspace Hiawatha Lofts is a pet-friendly building that houses artists. I live in a large 1-bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, dog toys and beds, and tile floors and very few rugs. Dogs are allowed on my furniture and bed if their owners allow it. And, if they have a crate, that will be put in a safe space where they can just chill out.
Conveniently located just off of Rainier and Dearborn by I-5 and I-90, it is near downtown, Beacon Hill, Central District, Capitol Hill, Columbia City, and the I-D. There is a greenbelt park 2 blocks south on a quiet street — the Mountain to Sound Trail — where I walk and play with dogs. It goes through Judkins Park and all the way to Lake Washington. There is a well-recommended veterinary office right across the street.
There is no yard.
When is dog-sitting available?
All week but advance notice necessary for weekends
And a bit more, if you want to know...
Having been raised on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania, I loved all the animals we had and miss having more than one. Our family dog, Winnie the Poodle, was a great friend and adventured with me around the fields. Now, I am a freelance designer and spend a lot of time in my home office so this is a perfect way to have fun with new dogs!
