First off I would like to say that before accepting any bookings, I require a greet and meet with all new guests. Please do not message me, requesting booking without first meeting me and my pack.
This profile will be updated for the rest of 2016
Please note that I get booked very quickly during holidays so if you would like your dog to stay with me during labor day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving etc, then please book in advance. Thank you.
Hello everyone my name is Alan from House of the Woofers. I'm a dog sitter, boarder, walker and will even provide chauffeur services for your pooch.
I am a software developer who has decided to turn to dog caring as a full time job as it allows me to meet great fur balls, amazing pet parents and be with my own furry mess, Messi.
I have been using Dogvacay for about 3 years but have been dog sitting for approximately 8 years.
I am a very flexible person so please feel free to contact me and I will respond as quickly as I can.
I have my own pup so I prefer to do greets & meets to make sure that our pups are compatible. Therefore last minute bookings are best suited toward repeat guests or guests who are able to do a greet & meet before boarding.
- Approx 3 years using DogVacay with 6 repeated guests and 7 overall guests
- Approx 8 yrs of dog sitting
- Have been around dogs for about 28 years, the bulk of my life
Messi is my current pup son who I adopted from Port Washington North Shore Animal League.
He is a 3 year old pup who loves to play, sleep, eat and be around people/dogs.
He is very social and friendly, he has been great with the DogVacay guests and he provides the guests with plenty of exercises.
I will walk your dog for at least 30 mins but I tend to walk much longer.
I love to play with all dogs and have plenty of toys as long as other dogs are willing to share with my pup. He will definitely play with other dogs and chase them around the yard and dog park.
If your dog is ok with it, I will take him/she on car rides to me to places such as the park, beach, petco, petvalu, special dog event places such as Old Westbury Gardens dog day, Shake Shack for a doggie treat and any other places that I go to.
I will never leave your dog alone in the car, I just hate staying at home all the time and I am sure your dog would appreciate a bit of sight seeing.
There will always be someone at home watching your dog. I usually get help from my girlfriend and sometimes parents when they come over so rest assure that your dog will always be cared for. Cameras have been set for further monitoring, especially during bed time.
My home is a 1,886 sq. ft split home with an in ground pool.
There is plenty of yard space for doggie "business."
There is now a designated doggy lounge, a room specifically where all doggy guests may use to relax, play and just be themselves. A great room for puppy and small dog socializing.
The pool is opened during the summer season so if your dog loves the water, then they will love the pool.
My availability for greets & meets are by appointment only since my schedule varies on a daily basis.
Last minute bookings are best suited towards repeated guests or guests that are able to meet before their requested booking date. Not all dogs get along so to make sure all dogs are compatible, I encourage greets & meets first.
Due to past experiences and current pet parents, there are certain breed dogs that I am unable to accept such as pit bulls, rottweilers, great danes, dobermans, and mastiffs. I personally love all types of dogs but due to unfortunate tells around my community with the latest involving a pit bull, these breeds are not accepted at House Of The Woofers. I do hope to one day be able to accept these breeds but for now please understand that many pet parents are reluctant to leave their dog with the mentioned breeds.
Dogs over 80 lbs are also not accepted due to their size, while my home is large enough, a dog over 80 lbs can easily take up space and may make the environment uncomfortable for other dogs. I do however make exceptions during greet and meets.
Dogs that are disabled or have trouble getting around are also not accepted. I have nothing against a dog that needs a little extra love and assistance and am very proficient in caring for these dogs however my home is not suited for them. Almost every aspect of my home has stairs, from the entrance to the back yard and to other rooms located on the upper or lower floors. I love senior dogs and am currently caring for a 17 year old hound at his home but senior dogs have real difficulties going up and down stairs.
