On a typical day, I would introduce myself to the dog in a positive environment, generally where the dog is most comfortable (e.g. your home). Once we have acquainted, gaining the dog's trust by going for our first walk is essential! This will develop the foundation of our relationship and help the dog in understanding I am the alpha. This will be done with a lot of positive reinforcement IF NECESSARY, but usually dogs are very perceptive during fast paced activities that required their attention, such as a brisk walk through the park. In addition, my experience in dealing with a multitude breeds will allow me to gauge the dog's dominance/submissiveness, and reinforce the desired behaviour accordingly. This could apply to overall dominance against other dogs (behaviours like humping, excessive barking targeted toward dogs during our walks, policing-this applies in an off-leash environment ONLY, and more). I request that dogs are up-to-date on all their vaccines for their own benefit, but also for the safety of myself. If the rabies vaccination has not been administered NOR up-to-date, I will be able to provide any services for the dog.
