I'm a dog guy, born and bred (see picture of me with Freddy, my black lab growing up... I don't own those sparkly pants anymore), and am slowly working my way towards having a dog of my own. My travel schedule for work is sporadic enough that I don't think having a dog of my own is the responsible choice, so I take every opportunity possible to lend a hand and borrow dogs from my friends and family (though really, I think they're doing ME a favor).
I grew up with dogs of all sizes, but prefer a pup that enjoys long walks through the city, hanging out in the dog park, and exploring dog-friendly brunch locales. I have also spent a significant amount of time with Lilly, a dachshund who has a penchant for polo shirts, so I'm not above hanging out with a dog with a flair for fashion.
I have a 2BR in Long Island City (Hunter's Point), which is spacious, clean and dog-friendly. I tend to go to bed early and wake up early, so the early morning walks & days spent outside are no problem. If your pup would rather catch up on DVR, that's totally cool too. I tend to think that a tired dog is a happy dog, so I prefer to keep busy.
I can watch dogs during the work week, but would have to either arrange for a walker during the day or have them be ok alone from 8-6. I'm most flexible on the weekends, from Friday evening until Monday morning, when I am around and able to give my full attention.
I look forward to hearing from you! Please let me know if there's anything else that I can share. I know that allowing your dog to stay with a stranger can be tough to wrap your head around, so I'm more than happy to meet and/or speak ahead of time.
