About Leila

3 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I currently live in the East Village/Alphabet City in an apartment with one roommate and we are dog obsessed duo. My services primarily include dog walking and boarding. My apartment has a very spacious living room and kitchen that is great for dogs. The bedrooms are kept closed while the dogs are in the home, so the dogs have access to everything except the bedrooms. We allow and welcome dogs onto the couch provided that is okay with the owner. We live right next to a great park with an even better dog park and great places for walking. I have experience with dogs of all ages and size. I am equipped to administer oral medication. I have grown up with dogs my whole life in Atlanta. Currently in Atlanta we have two family dogs. Bella and Jesse are Australian Shepard; Black Lab mixes who are 10 years old. We rescued them from South Carolina when they were just six months old. Now here in New York, I work as a dog walker, sitter, and boarder. In addition to dogs I have good experience with cats and cat sitting as well. I have been officially working in the field for a year, but I have been pet sitting since the age of 13. In Atlanta I have been trusted to pet sit and walk dogs from the neighborhood, school, friends and family. I had several families in Atlanta that I worked for and was their primary pet car provider when they went out of town. For these families I would either stay in their home or I would just go to their home during the day in order to provide the necessary care needed. Similarly, for the past year I have been providing pet care for customers here in the city.

I can't think of a better person than Leila when it comes to caring for others' dear pets. In one particular instance, Leila took the responsibility of housing a St. Bernard/Boxer mix, named Chance, for a four-day weekend. She'd make sure to walk him at least 4 times a day, give him treats with his main meals whenever he behaved well (which was every time because Chance was a saint), and even treated Chance to a soft serve ice-cream (as allowed by the owner). By the end of his stay, Chance was visibly saddened to have to leave, which just goes to show how well Leila manages to care and bond with animals.

I have known Leila since she was a freshman in high school when I was her basketball coach. Around that time is when she is started to dog and cat sit for us (she was also our babysitter). She has been cat sitting for our three cats when we have gone out of town for years (unfortunately this stopped when she went to college out of state). We got a pit bull about 5 years ago and she proceeded to dog sit too. We had Leila come over to the house several times during the day to take out and feed the animals. Occasionally she would sleep at the house if it were easier. She is great with all animals and has an undying love for dogs. Every time we got back to town the animals all seemed to miss her presence in the house. On top of her compassion of animals, Leila is one of the most trustworthy people I know.

Leila sat my 4 year old Havanese, Rocky, in June for 5 days. When I arrived home Rocky liked her more than me. She kept me updated with pictures and a run through of each day - If there was any trouble with the dog she let me know as soon as possible. Over all, I have known Leila for years and I can testify that she has a great character and an immense love for animals, especially dogs.
