About Valerie

10 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
La Chienne is in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia on a beautiful street with easy access to one of the best parks in the country - The Wissahickon.

Our smoke-free, air conditioned home is a 3 story twin with a small but completely fenced in back yard. We do not, however, rely on our yard for your dog's exercise. Your dog is rarely without human love, companionship and supervision as I work at home as a career coach.

Your dogs will get plenty of exercise enjoying several daily walks in a nearby park or on the magnificent trails of the Wissahickon.

We have two dog-loving teenagers -19 year Ethan and 18 year old Isabelle. Both kids love dogs and are happy to lend a helping hand when they are home and not away at college!

Thank you for checking into Le Chien of Chestnut Hill.

Snow had a wonderful week! Can't say enough. We were nervous to leave her for the first time, but Valerie and Wayne were very reassuring. Thanks so much!
Valerie and her whole family went above and beyond in taking care of our puppy, Appa. We were in a strange position: we got Appa a week and a half before Thanksgiving when we planned to visit my sister with a new baby in another state. We quickly realized that a puppy's inability to sleep through the night (we got him at 8 weeks) would add stress to a household with a new baby that, of course, doesn't sleep through the night. We then had to make the wrenching decision to board our new puppy right after we brought him home! Valerie and her family made it clear from the start that they would pamper Appa. We received multiple texts, images, and videos daily during the Thanksgiving vacation letting us know that he was doing well and showing us that he we getting lots of attention and having fun! Their dog Brie let Appa chase her around and steal her toys and generally gave him great doggie socialization! Valerie, her husband, and her two kids played with Appa and snuggled him constantly. Valerie and her husband were totally fine with the fact that they would have to get up once or twice in the night, every night, to let Appa and his puppy bladder out to pee! As a result, the puppy we picked up after the vacation was a relaxed and happy puppy! We would definitely recommend Valerie for dog boarding!

Valerie and her family were great! It's clear she's experienced with all types of dog personalities, and is very knowledgable about dogs. Her dog, Brie, and my dog played well together. I would definitely recommend her!
Our dog had a great time with Valerie and her family! Valerie was a pleasure to deal with and was happy to make sure he got took some medication he was on at the time. Thanks Valerie!
Kiko was a real member of the family. He got walks, cuddles and everything he needed to come home from his stay relaxed, healthy and happy.
FIVE STARS! Valerie and her entire family are awesome! They took incredible care of our dog, Lou. She updated us with pictures of him lounging around their house and hanging out in the kitchen waiting for someone to drop food; just like he does at our home. Valerie has the perfect environment for us to feel safe leaving our little beagle behind while we travel. We will definitely be using her services again soon.

We were extremely pleased with Valerie and her family -- they made us feel like Cassie was part of their household for the week. A great experience.
Over a year since Molly's last stay with Valerie, she was excited to arrive and very relaxed upon departure. While we were away, Valerie texted us a photo of Molly napping next to sweet family dog Brie. We would not hesitate to return Molly for another visit.

Dear Valerie & Family, Thank you for providing Nika with a loving and fun dog vacation. She was happy and exhausted when she returned home! It was so kind of you to welcome her into your home. You made it easy for us to leave her and we really appreciate that!

My husband and I were apprehensive about leaving Molly: we normally take her on trips with us. But Valerie sent us reassuring emails while we were gone, and when we went to retrieve our girl, she seemed quite happy and relaxed. We were very pleased that in Valerie's home Molly was treated the way we treat her, like a member of the family.

Can't say enough about Valerie and her family. They did great with Jackson and hope they'll look after him again next time.
My family and I were extremely happy with Niko's care while with Valerie and her family. They truly treated him as if he were part of their family. Valerie updated us regularly with reports on Niko's adjustment, eating and sleeping habits, and plenty of cute pictures.

Niko came home his normal lovable and playful self. He actually seemed to respond better to our commands proving to me that Valerie spent a lot of time with Niko. We were also pleased that Niko spent a lot of time with other dogs including Brie, Valerie's dog. Valerie and her family are dog lovers and Niko benefited from this love. I forgot to mention that Niko is a very active puppy and Valerie was a pro with him as were her husband and children.

We will definitely like to leave Niko with Valerie again while on our next vacation. Our peace of mind while away was priceless.

Valerie and her family are great hosts! Our dogs had such a good time that they slept the entire day they got back :) We will definitely use them again.
Valerie and her family took excellent care of our almost 12 year old dog. He still has a bit of spunk and they kept him busy with plenty of walks and lots of needed love and attention. We look forward to having Valerie watch our dear mutt again at some point! It was so nice knowing that he was in such good hands while we were away for the week in the outer banks!

Valerie and her family were wonderful! They created a loving environment for Bronte. He seemed to enjoy his DogVacay.
This was my second experience with Valerie. She and her family are just great. I already know what I going to do next time I go out of town. No question!
This is a very cool dog friendly house. Valerie is down to earth and relaxed. Bruna (my choc lab) had a great vacation. She came home relaxed and in good health. I almost did not leave a comment because I am tempted to keep her secret. But I guess I will have to share...alas.
