I have lots of experience with animals, and while I can't adopt any of my own right now, I miss having them in my life! I would treat yours like family.
I grew up helping to take care of my family's two dogs and two cats. This included walking, feeding, bathing, and giving medicine, as well as administering insulin shots to a diabetic kitty. During college I worked as an au pair for three years; my responsibilities included walking the two family dogs a few times a week and occasionally taking them to the vet. Later, for three years straight I had the good fortune of living with roommates who had dogs, whom I would walk and feed if their owners were out of town. I've also cat- and dog-sat for a number of friends and family members sporadically over the years.
I live at the borderline between Columbia Heights and Mt. Pleasant, a short walk from Rock Creek Park and a few dog parks. I would definitely walk the dogs in the Park at least once a day, and for the other walks would probably let them stretch their legs in other parts of the neighborhood. While not out walking, I would stay at my apartment with them as much as possible to keep them company.
