Thank you so very much for considering Laughing Dog Pet Sitters for your dog’s fun filled retreat! We are located on 25 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains among soaring Redwood trees and old logging roads to hike on. Your dog will have free run of our ¼ acre fenced yard (and growing) where she will find a kiddie pool to cool off in after playing, mulberry bushes to hide under, mulched sunny areas to sun herself, and a wraparound porch for shade and beds to watch deer go by. Of course there are the daring squirrels to tempt and bring out the hunter in every dog.
Our enclosure is separated into three areas, so if it is necessary to separate rambunctious players from older or shy dogs we have the room to accommodate. However, we strongly believe in the power of the pack and make every effort to involve every boarder in group play and pack walks.
Laughing Dog Pet Sitters is my private residence, so dogs have access to the indoors as well as the outdoors. At no time will your dog ever be crated or kenneled unless requested to do so by you. Unlike larger facilities your dog is never left unattended even at night - in fact she’ll sleep on a dog bed in our bedroom! Safety is our number one concern, this is why I have a certification for Pet First Aid from the Santa Cruz Chapter of the American Red Cross.
I grew up with a pack of eight dogs. My father trained German Shepherd Dogs and although I learned an enormous amount from him, I learned even more from observing the pack interact with each other and our family. I have been caring for dogs most of my life and have been doing so professionally for 15 years. Currently my pack consists of four dogs and they are invaluable to me in providing my client’s dogs with proper socialization, sane pack mentality and a calming environment.
I attend dog behavioral seminars, study programs and read material that allow me to become familiar with canine behavior patterns and what causes them to react to different stimuli. I then make it my goal to eliminate timid or aggressive behavior and support a balanced mental state. I strive to provide safety, balance and fun for your dog and peace of mind for you.
