I'm new to Dog Vacay, but I have had my own dogs, or cared for other's (more of the latter) for much of my life. I had malamutes and a awesome lab mix, Lou, when I was younger. Lou and I adventured all over the country together for 11 years. He was a famous, well-loved 3-legged dog who was extremely active until his last year or so.
From then on, I lived in locations that weren't good for dogs, but I dog walked and dog sat for friends as well as for a dog walking sub for my friend who walked full-time. I have since adopted and fostered several labs, none of whom are with me now.
The common threads in my history with dogs is that they have all been big! The bigger the better to me! I miss having a big dog around and am currently looking to adopt, but taking it slowly to decide. Meanwhile, I'm offering to host your big guy or gal when you are away. I know how hard it is to find safe and reliable care. I have administered meds, cared for injuries, etc. I have a safe nice yard and plenty of nice area to walk to from my home.
I've included a few pictures of the first floor of my home. I have a back porch off the kitchen and from the back porch the fenced yard is accessible, so dogs can migrate through the first floor of the house to the porch or yard as they like.
I live 5 miles from Harpers Ferry and not far from Brunswick, both locations where I can take the dogs for walks/hikes and there is a dog park in Charles Town. All these locations require riding in the car. The Jefferson Cty park is a few blocks from here as well, which makes a good place for shorter neighborhood walks.
There are no children, cats, or other pets in my home. I am a highly rated Airbnb host so sometimes there are other adults here. I'd be glad to offer your pet all the consideration I try to extend to my bipedal guests!
