I am so excited to create this DogVacay profile! It has taken me some time to muster up the courage to do this, but I am finally ready to fill this puppy shaped hole in my heart after losing my senior rescue Yorkie, Raker.
I adopted Raker in 2012, at the age of 10 (or so we thought). Actually, Raker turned out to be 12 - I didn't mind, it was love at first sight. Yep, even though he underwent a serious dental extraction leaving him with 3 teeth. Not only that, Raker was suffering from a terrible flea infestation, malnutrition, kidney failure and what was later identified as major separation anxiety. Nonetheless, he was my "puppy" and I wanted to give him the GREATEST end-of-life he could possibly experience. After all, he had been through so much and deserved so much more than the paw he was dealt. He followed me everywhere, cuddled with me to the very end, and I spoiled him rotten with gourmet food so he could finally put on healthy weight - he was practically a bag of bones when we got him.
As I'm sure you can deduce (from Raker's extensive background with health-issues), I have extensive experience administering medication as well as the patience it takes to care for an animal facing several challenges, including bladder control issues.
So, what would your little pup do while in my care? Well, I'm envisioning short or long walks depending on their needs/limitations, plenty of cuddles, lots of "conversation", and maintaining consistency when it comes to mirroring rules or training you implement at home.
Currently, I work part-time for a non-profit organization in Vancouver but also work from home. Typically, my availability is flexible during the week and over weekends. I do have an up-to-date criminal record check (required annually through work) so am happy to provide a copy of that if you wish!
Let me know what else you'd like to know - I'm happy to chat!
