A mother of three wonderful, grown children, I spent much of their lives (and mine) learning from my mistakes and successes. What I came to understand is that love, kindness, and patience belong at the forefront of all our relationships, whether they are with our sibling’s, parent’s, or “our fine furry friends.”
I’ve had three dogs in my life and all have brought their special personalities and abilities along with them. Together, we worked on simple commands to more complex issues such as separation anxiety, social anxiety, and nipping. Beyond the books, the trainer/vet advice, keeping a loving and positive attitude was most important.
In summer, the size of our home swells a bit as we have returning college students and the youthful energy they bring. We keep our windows open for lots of fresh air, spend time in the garden, and take walk breaks around our hilltop neighborhood. In the cooler months, it’s much more quiet and cozy with fires, pots of tea...and always music. We love music and hope your pet does too!
I start my day early at 5:30, reading and usually head out on a run or walk depending on the day of the week. When my dog Olive was alive, she came along. And though I really miss her, I'm not ready to start a relationship with a new pet - yet. Consequently, one of my motivations in providing care for pets is so that I may enjoy their companionship. I love dogs and I miss their company. Through walking/pet-sitting, I can allow myself time before choosing my own dog while providing excellent, loving care for others.
