Hi there! My name is Krysta, I'm a 27 year old UCSC graduate and proud puppymama of a 2 year old Husky/German Shepherd mix named Molly (who unfortunately doesn't live with me anymore).
I have experience with raising Molly from 9 weeks onward, and my house life growing up was akin to living in the animal kingdom. I have had experience living with various dogs of many ages(pit bull, chihuahua, dachshund, Rottweiler), cats, rats, hamsters, fish, birds, lizards, the list goes on!
I am familiar with canine behaviors and personalities and recognize that all dogs are different and work best with positive reinforcement. I brought Molly to an excellent dog trainer twice/three times a week for one year to work on separation anxiety issues, and I learned a great deal about dog training and how rewarding it is to create that connection with an animal. I am familiar with most hand signals for basic commands and am pretty keen on reading body language.
I live in a separated house with a spacious, semi-enclosed backyard (soon going to install a tie out for pups when lounging in the back, always supervised). It's located amongst trees and a hillside so the house remains cool for much of the day. On a typical day of dog sitting, we would go for a walk (length depends on breed and your request but can easily do 1-2 miles), head to the dog park to play if it's allowed and hike through the redwoods, maybe do a bit of training/mental stimulation, then take a nap on my giant bean bag!
Beach/river trips are also optional, and I am willing to brush out your pets, am comfortable administering oral medications, and am respectful of your guidelines for your pet, every animal is different and no one knows your dog better than you do!
