About Todd

32 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Dogs give me great joy. I've walked hundreds and honestly never met one I didn't like. I just joined DVC (Nov 2016) and loving it. I live right off Lake Merritt which I walk everyday. If my rate seems a little high know that I offer full-time 24/7 high quality care in my safe comfy home. Every dog is loved unconditionally. My girlfriend Julia is almost always here so double the attention!

For large leash trained dogs, and smaller ones without difficult issues I can possibly offer a lower fee, but if your dog can't be kept with other dogs I might have to charge a bit more, please inquire as it all depends.

I'm a former teacher and longtime Bay Area owner of bookstores who now works at home full time. I'm always around so let me know about your needs. Call my land line phone, 510.835.1766 night or day.

Dogs & humans have an ancient and unique connection and I'm sensitive to each dog's character--their fears, needs, eccentricities, disabilities etc. I'm careful about their safety, dogs never get loose here and are always on the leash. Their diet/hydration is important, no bones or crap on the street will be snatched! My home is non-toxic, cleaned and kept flea-free with vinegar and baking soda, I'm very attentive to all this. Your loved ones will rarely (if ever) be left alone and will receive exorbitant amounts of affection and attention.

I can accept one unvaccinated dog but I can’t accept two or more unvaccinated dogs to be together unless companions.

I've owned dogs most of my life and for three years walked many hundreds of dogs for the Sonoma Humane Society where I was known as the go-to guy for difficult and large dogs. I'm physically strong and have no problem with dogs who want to use me as a sled driver, or carrying senior/disabled dogs up and down stairs and in and out of my car. I have a doggie seat-belt and small crates if desired.

I'm an antiquarian book-dealer (35 years now) specializing in scholarly books and work out of my beautiful book-lined home, a huge 1920's three-bedroom apartment two blocks to the lake where I have lived for 10 years. I am currently studying dog training methods and pursuing a new p/t career as a dog trainer (using “motivational” and “relationship-based” methods based on praise), I look forward to meeting your dogs!

Todd and his girlfriend are AMAZING. They gave Jazzy not only a comfortable, safe place to stay....but also all of the love and adoration in the world. They were flexible, accommodating, communicative, and super caring. 5 star experience all the way!!

Todd was fantastic! Great communication and coordination and Olivia had a great time. We will definitely be visiting again and thank you Todd for all the suggestions and recommendations!
This is the kind of review I'm almost hesitant to leave because I don't want other people to know about our fabulous dog sitter! Todd (and his lovely girlfriend) provided attentive, safe, and loving care to our puppy, Griswold, during the Christmas holiday - we actually just picked him up a couple of hours ago. We've used several different sitters from DV across two different dogs, and Todd is by far one of the most thoughtful and well-prepared sitters we've encountered. He has a personal interest in and love for dogs that's readily apparent, and he was very thorough during the meet and greet, taking notes and asking informed questions, which was much appreciated. He was respectful of the few specific requests/needs that we did have, and we returned home to a dog that is happy and relaxed. Griswold got to go to a big Christmas gathering (complete with other dogs to play with) and his home is comfortable and more or less dog-proof. Todd even had notes on Gris to ask us about some of his quirks and the breed in general when we came to pick him up, and it is obvious to us just how much attention was paid to even his most subtle needs and personality traits. We can't say enough nice things about Todd and will absolutely be booking with him in the future.

We were so lucky to find Todd after searching for someone who could manage our sweet little anxious pit. He was so kind with her high strung personality, and obviously respected her needs with patience. He also gave us some extremely useful advice for our continued training. We would definitely highly recommend Todd to care for anyone's pet. Marylou and Leah

Todd was my first experience with DogVacay. He was very nice, had parking available for me to park. We met outside and Coco warmed up immediately. Todd, was very organized and through with the hand off process. I was gone for two days and we kept in contact the whole time. I appreciate all the attention and advise he provided. Coco was relaxed and I could tell she was well taken care of. I will definitely book again with Todd
