It's the "holidaze" and things are always a little more complicated but I'm now available as of today (Dec 6th), so let me know your needs and I'll see what I can do. I will be attending a few family gatherings here in Oakland and your dog(s) might have to attend depending on the day.
I've walked hundreds of dogs and honestly I've never met one I didn't like. Each is so precious and unique. I just joined here (Nov 2016). I live right off Lake Merritt which is basically Canine Heaven.
If my calendar here says I am "booked" or "unavailable" please check with me anyway as I might have an opening. I can charge less than my stated rate depending on your dog.
I'm a former teacher and longtime owner of bookstores who now works at home. I'm always around so let me know about your needs, email/messaging is best, phone is land-line.
Dogs and humans have an ancient and unique connection and I'm very sensitive to each dog's character, their fears, needs, eccentricities, disabilities, and I'm careful about their diet and hydration. They will rarely (if ever) be alone and will receive ridiculously exorbitant amounts of love and attention.
Safety, health & loving attention are my main concerns. No dog will ever get loose or be endangered under my care and my home is completely non-toxic and dog-proof, I do all my cleaning with Dr. Bronner's and stay scrupulously flea-free with baking soda and careful vacuuming, dogs will generally be flea-combed after walks. I can accept one unvaccinated dog but I can’t accept two or more unvaccinated dogs to be together unless companions.
My last dog just died so I will be very grateful to get to know yours, call or message me any time if you have questions,
I've owned dogs my entire life and for three years walked hundreds of dogs for the Sonoma Humane Society where I was known as the go-to guy for difficult dogs. I am physically strong and have no problem with large dogs or carrying senior/disabled dogs up and down stairs and in and out of my car. I have a doggie seat-belt and crates if desired.
I'm an antiquarian book-dealer (35 years now) specializing in scholarly books and work out of my beautiful book-lined home, a huge 1920's three-bedroom apartment just two blocks to the lake, where I have lived for 10 years. I am currently studying dog training methods and pursuing a new p/t career as a dog trainer (using “motivational” and “relationship-based” methods, no punishment, non-punitive, it works). I look forward to meeting your dogs!
