About Kathy

52 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I have been dog sitting since the age of 8. I volunteered for over 20 years, breeding, raising, and training puppies for a national service dog organization, working with a rescue group, and helping out at the local shelter and humane society. In addition, I have done therapy work with my dogs.
Rita and Charlie, my current dogs, love to have guests, and are waiting to make new friends, and share their ideal dog space. We live in a single story home with no stairs, so our old and blind friends are safe. Our 2 acre yard is completely fenced, with a 5' fence that is also buried to prevent the diggers from escaping! When the weather keeps us inside, we have lots of space to move around in. We are allowed on the furniture and beds.
Kathy has retired and wants to welcome more dog guests into our home to keep us company, and keep us all out of trouble. She was a therapist in the schools, and has plenty of experience with special needs dogs (& kids)! She would love to provide a safe and secure home to host your dogs, where they will enjoy our relaxed and laid back setting, while getting lots of hugs and snuggles.
Please note that I charge by the 24 hours, not by the night. So a Friday through Sunday visit is charged as 2 nights plus a day of day care. As I am getting older, I very much appreciate couch potatoes, non-jumpers, and non- barkers!

Kathy has been working with dogs ... I think forever. She's dealt extensively with puppies (being a breeder of service dogs for Paws with a Cause), so she understands how to keep a dog healthy and safe. Not only does she know the ins and outs of dog health, she has the patience of a saint - especially when it comes to puppy shenanigans. Kathy is one of those who also has a tender spot for older dogs - taking special care of the geriatric set, and even adopting a number of homeless older dogs over the years that have needed special medical attention and physical help. Who does these things? Someone who truly, deep down loves dogs. There is nobody that I know who is more dedicated to the emotional and physical well-being of her charges than Kathy.

Our 2 dogs spent 2 weeks with Kathy. They had a great time and we got regular emails with photos. Everyone was happy!
Kathy was an outstanding provider. Sugar loved being at her house with all her dog friends. Would highly recommend her for doggy vacations.
Our dog was very well cared for. Good setup and great sitter.
Kathy was a very attentive to Salaber, I'm glad i chose Dogvacay. she sent me updates on how my dog was doing and he looked happy. she had everything ready to go when i went to pick him up.
Scout had a great time at Kathy's home. She loves playing with the "Big Dogs" and enjoys the company of dogs her own size. Kathy has so much experience with dogs that she understands their behavior. When Scout has a need for a belly rub which she needs most days, Kathy has been there to meet Scout's needs. I love the size of the fenced yards. Scout can be quite a runner so she is very happy with that. I know Scout likes to be able to go in and out of the house as she pleases and Kathy's house is set up for that doggie freedom. We are very happy with Kathy's service and I love how Kathy's dogs are happy to see Scout when she arrives.
I am sure that Kathy would be good with older and very very calm dogs but I would not reccomend her for high energy puppies or really puppies in general. On day one I recieved an email that stated my puppy was too much for her and that she was not welcome back after this stay. Her emails continued to remind me what a handful my puppy was and made my vacation really hard to enjoy. I dont think that Kathy mistreated or was mean to my dog by anymeans. I would have picked her up if that was the case. I do think my puppy was not given a chance and was judged from day one - in a new place and very excited to have friends to play with and was unsure of what the rules in this new place were. Kathy came reccomended by trustworthy people so I know she is probably a good DOG sitter but not a good high energy PUPPY sitter.
Our dog Eddie did very well at Kathy's. We feel very comfortable leaving or dog with her. She gave us lots of updates throughout the stay.
Kathy took great care of our dogs. We've never left our dogs with anyone but family in the past but now we know Kathy is not only dependable but very knowledgable with just about everything to do with dogs. This is very comforting. While we were away Kathy sent us pictures and gave us updates on how our kiddos were doing. This was great and helped us to not worry the whole time we were gone. We will definitely leave our dogs with Kathy again.
Our Duncan was whelped by Kathy almost 9 years ago. As a lab/goldie and 80 pounds, he can be a handful when excited. Thinks he's a puppy. Kathy knows how to handle him. She did a great job. He would go back to Kathy"s in a heartbeat.
This was the first visit for our 4 year old Samoyed who is a very friendly and active boy. He seemed to adjust quickly and by all accounts and photographs, it looked like he had a great time.
Kathy was amazing with Buddy over the 4th of July weekend. She was not expecting too many fireworks from past experience so this was supposed to be a respite for our dog, who is terrified of them. Unfortunately she had several fireworks this year. Kathy was so comforting and loving with him. She kept us updated with pictures and emails on his status. Kathy you are a saint!!!!!
Eddie had a blast with Kathy. She obviously loves dogs and took great care of him while we were away. She was terrific about sending updates and pictures daily.
Kathy is great with dogs and made sure my nervous boy was right and home and had a good time.
Kathy was an absoulte dream come true and our dog Hunter had a blast at her house. For starters, she has a large great room with plenty of room for play and a a huge yard as well.

She is also incredibly organized, with a bin for each dog to hold leashes, etc. and customized tags to clip on collars with her info for when they are staying with her. She has a vet nearby in case of an emergency and just a clear love of dogs.

Over the course of the weekend Kathy sent multiple detailed emails with lots of pictures.

Hunter received wonderful attention during his stay and got along well with her two resident pooches and is missing them a bit, I think!

Would definitely recommend and will use again!
Kathy was an incredible host for my dog. She was very thorough in any allergies or restrictions, has her own tags that say "I'm staying with Kathy" and a phone number in case a pet ever gets out (not likely judging by the expansive fenced yard). She sent so many pictures and updates daily of my pet playing and running around which was so nice to see while I was away. To top it off my dog hardly woke up the rest of the day and even the day after picking her up because she was so exhausted. Will definitely use again!
After meeting Kathy for the first time we knew Max was going to love his stay there. She truly knows and loves dogs and has the perfect house and yard for it. Max is a puppy so we haven't left him a lot but were completely comfortable dropping him off for his first stay. Kathy asked a lot of good questions to get to know him and just exuded confidence. She sent daily updates and pictures which we loved receiving. Max was tired and happy when we picked him up. I'm sure his tail will be wagging next time we go. We've already booked two future dates--Kathy is a gem!
My rescue Min Pin who was sheltered for six months (under socialized) and scared of anyone new warmed up to Kathy just fine. She took her time and when we picked him up he didn't know who to lick first--me, my husband or Kathy. Our other Min Pin had to be coaxed from her side. I expected a different reaction (jumping all over us) initially but realized they trusted and grew attached to her. She's another "Cesar Millan" in my book.
Kathy is amazing. She sent us daily updates along with photos of our dog Buddy and how much fun he was having. She brushed Buddy's teeth and his coat daily. Knowing he was in such a loving and caring environment added to our vacation.
Kathy was a wonderful host to Chester! We were new to DogVacay when we began looking for a place to bring our 5 month old puppy, Chester, for an overnight stay. We decided to call Kathy because of her availability, experience, and positive ratings -- which are well-deserved! Kathy promptly responded to my initial inquiry and every one thereafter. She answered every question I had and made sure Chester would have what he needed for his stay. Once we were scheduled and set, we brought Chester to Kathy's and she her dogs greeted us warmly. Because it was spring break week, Kathy had a handful of other pups at her house as well, all of which she crated temporarily to ensure they didn't flood Chester at once. We were so grateful!

It's clear that Kathy knows a lot about dogs and their needs! I left Chester for his stay feeling super comfortable and glad he would have other dogs to play and socialize with, as well as a handler to keep him well cared for.

Throughout Chester's stay, I received lots of pictures and little notes about how he was doing -- it's clear he wasn't missing me, thankfully! He had plenty of room to run and roam in Kathy's fenced in backyard.

Overall, we were delighted with our stay and very grateful to Kathy for a positive experience for both us and Chester. I can't recommend her highly enough!
Kathy took such good care of our dog! It was the first time we had ever left him and my worries quickly disappeared after her first email and pictures! He had so much fun, received so much love and attention, and made some new friends! We will definitely use Kathy again!!
Ryder had a great time with Kathy and her furry friends! We loved that Kathy sent pics everyday and that Ryder must have felt like he was at home because of how comfortable he was. He ate well and enjoyed interacting with other dogs! We would definitely use Kathy again!
Earlier this month I went on an 8-day vacation. My daughter found out about Kathy on DogVacay and Kathy invited me over to see if my dog would be a good fit. I knew immediately after meeting her that this is who I felt comfortable leaving my dog with. Kathy is extremely knowledgeable in canine behavior. She show me her super dog-friendly home and yard. When I dropped my dog off, I knew she would be safe and enjoy herself. Each day that I was gone, I received a short email from Kathy complete with pictures of what my dog did that day. It was wonderful knowing that my dog was well taken care of. I highly recommend Kathy F.
Kathy was awesome, I will definitely not hesitate to use her again. She sent pictures and email updates every day of my dog playing, cuddling and napping. She had quite a few dogs at her house so Luca had plenty of play mates, and got very tired out. She was very flexible with my travel plans and made sure Luca was well taken care of, an overall great experience.
Sydney had a great weekend with Kathy, her pups and other visiting guests. She got to snuggle in bed with Kathy and play hard enough that she came home exhausted which is a wonderful thing for this high energy girl. Kathy will definitely be first on our list for Sydney's next vacay stay.
Kathy was fantastic! She understood my dogs needs and made sure he was comfortable. My dog even for a Thanksgiving Meal!!! Very impressed with everything! Oh I also wanted to mention that she even has a nice area for the dogs to have fun. She is also a trainer with lots of experience. Absolutely happy! My dog even came home sleepy and lounging the rest of the day!
Kathy provided excellent care of our sweet dog, Buddy. She sends us multiple pictures, and treats our dog like family.
Kathy took amazing care of our dog, Buddy. She sent us daily updates as well as pictures. Knowing that he was well cared for and loved really put our mind at ease and allowed us to enjoy our vacation away from our dog. We will definitely use Kathy again not only for vacations but daycare as well.
Quigley had a wonderful time at Kathy's. It was obvious she gave him lots of love and attention. He was tired when we picked him up and he is a hard
puppy to wear down, so we he know he played hard. It was a wonderful experience for both our precious puppy and for us. We already
have her booked for an upcoming event.

Dewey loved going to Kathy's. He slept the whole next day. I would recommend Kathy to everyone.
Kathy was a pleasure and did a great job with our golden. He was happy and smiling on the way home. Thanks!
Kathy took great care of our pup and provided lots of updates throughout his stay. Rocky is already visiting again next weekend!
