About Kay

20 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I will take care of your dog in a home like setting. My dogs are family so yours will be treated the same. I have been in dog rescue for years and the dogs i have now are all from different places and backgrounds. Some of them may look scary but they aren't just thankful to have a safe home and a loving family. I do not have a breed restriction but i prefer not to take very old elderly and sick dogs. They would be to stressed out at all the comings and goings here with my six plus any client dogs in residence. I will also not take any un-neutered male dogs.I have a huge backyard that is totally fenced in a back porch set up for the dogs and of course if they are house trained full rein of the inside of the house besides the kitchen.A meet and greet is a must because of the number of dogs i have that way we all find out if your dog will be comfortable here. As well as you going on vacation they will be going on one as well and i want them to be happy.

We had a great experience leaving our little Kuma with Kay for several days. Kays communication is fast and thorough. Her love of dogs and her understanding of dog behavior is clearly evident. She makes sure that each pet gets the special attention that They need. Kuma loves playing with other dogs so Kay made sure that happened. She was thoroughly exhausted and happy when we picked her up. We would not hesitate to entrust our little fur baby to Kay in the future.

My dogs had a very good stay with Kay and were well cared for while I was out of town. Thank you for taking care of our babies!
Kay has a great and fun personality! I trust her with my boys and I will definitely be a repeat customer.
Kay has provided a second home for my high-energy 9-month-old, 100 lb, Dane/Pyr mix. It's wonderful to be able to have absolute confidence in his care while I am at work.
Kay (and her mother) were fantastic. Kay is a dog rescuer and really understands (and is emotionally connected to) dogs. My dog, Walter, was a little nervous, so he ended up staying in Kay's mother's room (being fed treats from her fork). We got texted updates on him throughout both days. The second day we brought him over, he ran right into the house without a backward glance.

I cannot recommend Kay highly enough!!!

Our five month old had never been with any type of day care and needless to say we were quite nervous leaving him with someone we did not know. Our fears were quite unfounded! Kay is warm, kind, and knows her puppies! She was also extremely accomodating about the timing of drop off and pick up!

That Kay took extremely good care of Jameson was borne out by the fact that when we took him back to her the second day, he unabashedly happily to her! (He had a very stressful experience at the groomers in a pet supply store; when we went to another pet supply store with him, he recognized that it was a pet supply store and he instantly put on the brakes and refused to go in!!!). Not with Kay!

Thank you, Kay, for taking such good care of Jameson. Do not hesitate to ask Kay to take care of your puppy!

Kay did a wonderful job with our girls. They had never been boarded before and we were not sure how they would react. Kay kept us up to date with pictures and texts. We are very happy with our experience in having Kay watch our fuzzy kids.
Kay is a responsible and reliable host for our 2 year old Labradoodle who is a little bit shy. Within just a few daycare visits, our puppy loves Kay and is happy to go off to "school" during the day. We are so thankful to have found Kay and will continue to take our puppy to her. I highly recommend her as a host!

Kay is a wonderful daycare host for our 2-year-old Labradoodle who is a bit shy. Kay made her - and me - feel right at home and is a very capable and responsive sitter. We have already reserved additional stays. I highly recommend Kay.
Kay was exceptional in her service. For his first visit, our dog was very timid and she went out of her way to make him feel comfortable. We were very impressed.
Our fun-loving, Iggy, absolutely loved staying with Kay. She and her husband made him feel right at home and part of the family. We so appreciated her great communication and treatment of our wonderful boy. Iggy will definitely be back when we return to the Winston-Salem area.

Bear, our lab, loves going to Kays and we've been repeat customers. She is great!
Emma had a lovely vacation with Kay, and looks forward to going again. She's a 20 pound Terrier, but more than held her own with larger dogs. We had several trial visits, from 1-2 hours each, before my 10 day trip, so she was very comfortable with the house, the family, and the other dogs. I really like that Emma was not in a crate, or in any way confined, while I was gone. In fact, I'm pretty sure they spoiled her even more than I do.

Kay and her pack are wonderful hosts! We would not hesitate to book with her again and again!
Great experience! Carter was exhausted after playing with all of Kay's dogs!
Our bulldog had a great stay! Kay saved our hides as she was able to book a reservation at the very last minute. We were incredibly appreciative of her great care for our dog!
Kay is FANTASTIC! She is such a gracious hostess and Ella had a wonderful time with Kay's pack. Thank you, Kay, for taking such good care of our girl and making her feel like one of your own! Ella looks forward to hanging with your pack in the future!

Kay is amazing! She genuinely loves her guests, even if they can be ruff to deal with sometimes. Kay took my high maintenance princess dog for three days, and papered her to pieces! I received lots of messages about how my Clara was enjoying her time.

We love Kay and her pack!!
It really gives me peace of mind to have a regular dog sitter that Gunther absolutely adores! He gets excited to go to Kay's, and stays very active while he's there. I really don't worry about him at all anymore, Kay, family and pack are more like his second home.

During a very stressful time in our family's life (my husband had surgery), Kay provided a refuge for Max and comfort for us that he was well taken care of. Max couldn't have been in a more caring environment with all of Kay's family joining in the caring. Max is one of the most sensitive dogs we have ever known and his 'emotional' needs were well met with love, understanding and two new toys! We highly recommend Kay and her whole family and are grateful that Max was loved and safe.

This was Gracis first time staying with Kay and she will stay with her again soon! Kay is a natural dog- lover and I believe she treated my dog as one of her own.
Gunther loves being with Kay and her pack so much that after a week long stay, he was a bit depressed in his first couple of days home. I noticed he would sit up on the hill in our backyard and just gaze out for long periods at a time, he looked like he was a basenji waiting for his pack to come home. He was so pitiful that I had to take him for a quick visit to see Kay and play with her pack for a little bit of time, then he was ready to come home and he's been fine since. We now call her Gunther's other mom. We love you, Kay!!

I couldn't ask for a better family to look after Levi(Great Dane). I HIGHLY recommend using Kay for any dog care needed!!!
Kay and family are becoming Gunther's home away from home, and he's pretty darn happy about it!! Thank you Kay!
As always, Gunther is sooo happy to be with Kay and her pack. It was a joy to see him play with his buddies when we dropped him off, Kay and her family really love and take care of him and all of their guests. I have such peace of mind when I leave. Thank you Kay!!

Kay did an amazing job with Levi and provided plenty of text updates. I look forward to continue to use her for Levi and recommending anyone new as well.
We love Kay and her pack, Gunther is very happy when I pick him up, a far cry from when he stays at the local doggie hotel. The last time I took him to the doggie hotel he was thinner and so stressed, but when I leave him with Kay, he is fatter and totally relaxed!!
Kay is amazing with dogs, if you get the opportunity to meet her pack and see her in action then take it! Those dogs have incredible respect for her and they are BIG dogs, but she handles them with so much ease. But what I love about her the most is that every dog that walks through that door is her baby, she speaks about each one with so much love and pride as if they were her own. In fact, when I call or email to schedule a sitting, she will go into detail about the dogs that will be there to play with Gunther. I'm so appreciative that we found Kay.

Kay was awesome and took wonderful care of our little Honey who was only 3 months old at the time. I highly recommend her!
Kay and family are awesome doggy grand parents! Love the text updates and one of my fussy dogs was not eating she fixed him hot dogs. This was the second visit and soon the dogs will be going back to vacay with Kay.
What would I do without Kay taking care of my baby? I would be stressed and worried every time I traveled. She is quickly becoming an integral part of my family because she takes such great care of our dog, Gunther!
Kay is gifted in that she really understands the dog and the unique characteristics of the breed. I could really see the difference in Gunther when I picked him up after a week long stay. At other places he would be thinner and stressed, with Kay she took such good care of him that he gained weight and was happy!! Kay is known in my family as the "dog whisperer" of the south :) We love her!! Thanks Kay!

I've been leaving my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy with Kay on a regular basis for several months now so I guess it's time I leave another review. I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about Kay. Jackson has a sensitive stomach, separation anxiety, and lots of puppy energy, and Kay has been wonderfully understanding and patient with him. She doesn't just "watch" Jackson. When Jackson is there, he is like one of her own. On top of being great with the dogs, Kay is reliable and flexible and a pleasure to deal with. The woman is a saint. Seriously.

Kay is one of those rare gems who really loves and understands dogs. I have a high maintenance basenji who would drive a monk nuts, but she handled him with grace and love.
I'm so happy that we found her and her pack, Gunther looked like he had a great time, so much so that he fell asleep 3 min after we got home!
Thanks Kay!!

The place is very clean, and Kay is warm and great with the dogs. Daily text updates and posts were helpful for my peace of mind. I know my dogs were well cared for and I will definitely recommend and be using Kay again.
Just picked up my dog from his second visit with kay. I couldn't be more pleased! He was so happy there and loved playing with the other dogs. Kay also sent me updates daily, which I loved! You can tell she really cares about the dogs and does what she can to keep them happy and well taken care of. She was also very flexible with pick up and drop off times, which helped a lot!

Kay did an awesome job with my little mini dachshund! He seemed to have a great time playing with her and her dogs and I felt he was well taken care of. She gave me updates on how he was doing while I was away, which gave me peace of mind. I will definitely use her again!

I could not have been more pleased with the care Jackson received at Kay's. It was obvious that Kay really cared about Jackson being safe and happy - and he LOVED his time there. The other dogs were very friendly and they all played really well together. Jackson didn't want to leave Kay and his new friends! I was totally at ease knowing that Jackson was receiving the best care possible. I will definitely leave Jackson with Kay again.
