Karen was fantastic. I was very apprehensive about leaving my dog with a sitter. But she led me through an introduction with her dog, and what would be entailed in a stay with her. She sent me consistent updates and even a long profile of my dogs behavior afterwards. Really really high quality sitting and great experience. Will definitely continue taking my dog to Karen when she needs sitting.
We decided to try a more personalized place for our dog for when we are out of town. Karen's profile on DogVacay appealed to me, so I decided to request a "Meet and Greet". I was very impressed by Karen, she has a lot of experience with dogs, she asked a lot of questions to learn as much as possible about Lola and about our parenting style of her. I left feeling very comfortable about Karen, her house and her approach to dog sitting.
We left Lola for two days with Karen. She kept us informed about how Lola was adapting to the new arrangement, very honest about good and bad and how she was handling the situation. When picked our dog up, Karen went over the experience again, to help us understand the behavior and giving us great advice on making this an even better experience in the future. I will definitely leave my dog with Karen again and would highly recommend Karen's services to my friends.
Karen and her lab were great hosts for my Belgian Malinois puppy of 8 months, providing a well structured safe home for 2 nights. Lots of toys, productive socializing and Karen's attentive care no doubt contributed to the easy transition for my puppy. My dog was very happy, and so was I!

This was a training home visit--I would call it "family therapy"--and it was very helpful. The dog is two years old and I've had him for several months. One minute he loves me, and the next he is terrified, for no obvious reason. He's wonderful in just about every other way. Karen really knows dog and human behavior, and she communicates with both clarity and sensitivity. The first visit already has been a great help. I'll certainly be following through, and calling on her in the future for boarding as well.
Karen helped me out in a pinch.
Not only that, my dog is a recent rescue 9 month old, with no training whatsoever.
Mystique spent 3 nights there.
As an added bonus, Karen worked with Mystique and started her with the basic leash walking and crate training.
Karen was very open and approachable on any questions I had.
I would definately recommend Karen for training, doggie day care or boarding.
Our Tibetan Terrier rescue dog spent 4 days with Karen recently. He is a high needs dog, having been abused and not socialized well.
Karen dealt with his issues while having several other dogs 'boarding'. She communicated with us daily including photos.
Very comforting.
Karen came through for me in a pinch and was super serious about making Tigger's stay a good one.
I left my two dachshunds with Karen for a 3 day/2 night stay. Karen's home is very clean, welcoming, and set up well for dogs. She is very personable and asked lots of questions about both dogs in order to glean as much information about them as possible since this was their first stay with her. My male dachshund, Brody, is a rescue and has issues with anxiety (separation and being around new people). Karen handled this well and didn't have any issue with Brody's anxious behavior, which she said became better with some time. I would not hesitate to have Karen watch my dogs again (and I am extremely picky about who watches my dogs).
I have a very shy golden retriever who exhibits a lot of anxiety around other dogs. Karen welcomed Hannah into her home and put a lot of effort into encouraging her to interact with the other dogs in her care. Over her 5 day stay Hannah became increasingly more comfortable and it was obvious upon our return that she was happy and respectful. We have another trip planned and are looking forward to Hannah's continued growth toward becoming a more socialized and better behaved dog under Karen's experienced and loving guidance.
Karen was wonderful with Hannah who gets extremely anxious and nervous when other dogs are near. She took a caring but firm approach to help build her confidence and we plan to book a week of boarding and training to see if Hannah can overcome her issues with Karen's experienced assistance and encouragement.
I needed a last minute dog sitter and Karen came to my rescue. She made everything easy and was great with my dog, Huckleberry. She sent me pictures each day to let me know he was doing well and having fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Karen to a friend or to use her services again in the future.
Helo had a great time, and we really appreciated Karen's flexibility, the details she noted about him, and the training thrown in. Great dogvacay
Karen was amazing! She really gave me a lot of good tools and was very loving and caring with my dog Bubba. I highly recommend Karen, she is great and a truly gifted dog whisperer.
My husband & I were extremely pleased with the care & attention Karen gave our Shiba Inu while we were on vacation. I would highly recommend Karen to anyone vacationing in the Sonoma/ Santa Rosa area who is seeking an experienced and friendly dog trainer/ sitter.
Karen was wonderful with our little Pomeranian Scout. Her experience working and training dogs is evident from the moment you meet her. She was very loving, attentive (sending us updates while away as well as a full written summary of Scout's time with her), and fully committed to her work with dogs. It made us feel so good to see our dog look so happy and socializing with her other dogs in the photos she sent us while out of town. We will for sure be using her again!!!
Karen has done a great job with my active dog, Zelda. She has been caring for her during the day while I work. I haven't been sure of my work schedule and she has been very accommodating. Karen is working on Zelda's leash manners which definitely needed work, and I have noticed a difference when I walk her. Zelda is always tired after a day at Karen's and sleeps well afterward.
Karen was great. This is the first time we've left Sandy with anybody else, and we didn't worry at all. She took Sandy for lots of walks and kept her busy and happy. She also sent me photos so I could see that Sandy was doing just fine. Thanks Karen.
Bruce had a lovely day visit with Karen and her crew. He was happy and content when we arrived to pick him up. We were presented with a wonderful write up on his interactions and their observations of him. Like reminding me that it may be time his nails be looked at. I would be happy to leave my dog with Karen and her family again.
