My wife and I are retired. We live on two acres with a barn just outside Reston.
We've had dogs since we were first married (48 years) and consider ourselves to be really good with dogs.
In 2013 we lost a Redbone Coonhound who was the first Redbone to ever get an AKC obedience title. A big deal considering the breed isn't known for "wanting to please." Took us a while but in December, we adopted, Ginger, a 9 year old Plott Hound. She's about 75 pounds and you'd never guess she was 9. Gets along with all the other family dogs and does well meeting dogs on a walk or in the dog park.
I also walk and train dogs at the Friends of Homeless Animals in Aldie, Va. All breeds.
In general, we're looking for mid-sized dogs (20-60 pounds), house trained, and reasonably well mannered. We would want to meet your dog before we arrange a booking. We will only host dogs from one family at a time to ensure your pooch has as comfortable and stress free a stay as possible.
We tend to be around the house most of the time but do leave for errands and stuff so the dog would be alone on occasion.
