About Joan

40 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I have come from a huge family of pet sitters. I have had 6+
dogs all my life. I am finally ending up with my Cupcake and
about 7 cats. I formerly had a farm with animals and
through time lost many sadly over the years.

I come with recommendation with my vet. He has groomed me
with lots of home care and pet medications in the past. He
has helped me through all the surgeries and past injuries.
He always called me when they had a cat in need of a home.

I am a stay at home grandmother. I love cats and dogs
and can always snuggle up with more.

They can play outside or just kick back with me.

I have a ranch house with no stairs. The back yard is
fenced. There is even a ramp for access down the steps
into the back yard (thanks to the wonder of a few dogs
who needed the help with back issues). We always play
ball and catch a laps around the deck. We love cookies.
A reward for us is a cookie. Even if the the weather is a
bit cool I can sit on my porch and view every one.

I live in a nice neighborhood. I live in Nicholasville, Ky. just south
of Lexington. My neighborhood is very active.
My own neighborhoods on either side are very cooperative.
With my outside actions they are alright with me being home
again with pets.

I moved here 3 years ago. I had 5 dogs and. With the intent
that I move slowly with 3 of them being older, I built the ramp.
Of course they are gone now, along with 5 of the twelve cats
I moved.

I look forward to opening my house to further pet and their
parents.

Baily and Bullet came home happy pups! Thanks Joan for taking great care of them.
We left our senior dog with Joan for a long weekend. Joan was wonderful and took excellent care of our old girl. She was readily available to us for check-ins while we were away and even sent us picture updates. Our dog is usually pretty anxious when she is boarded, but at Joan's house she felt calm and right at home. We will definitely be staying with Joan again!

Our experience with Joan was great. We did a meet and greet a few weeks before our trip and immediately felt comfortable leaving our 3 babies with her.

Our littlest, most nervous pup, Daisy, just adored Joan --she even slept with her.

Our other 2 dogs did not behave like perfect ladies, and were actually quite rambunctious, but she managed to keep them safe and happy.

She emailed us pictures to keep us worry-free during our vacation.

And even though she ended up having some challenging behaviors that none of us expected, she treated our girls with love.

They all came home happy and healthy.

We had just gotten an 8 week old Labrador puppy, and I unexpectedly needed to go out of state for the week. I was terribly worried, but I called Joan and she had a meet and greet with me immediately. She was so warm and inviting and made me feel right at home. She just loved on this puppy and welcomed all of the needs of this little one. She did such a wonderful job, I highly recommend her to anyone needing a safe place for their 4 legged beloved member of their family! Thank you Joan!!!

Did a great job! Very caring and dogs seem to like her. Very accommodating will be using again soon.
Joan is fabulous, and I had no qualms about leaving my dog with her! She has extensive experience with dogs and cats, and my dog had so much fun with her pets! I was so pleased to see her take control immediately, since I'm trying to train my dog not to jump up on people or other dogs. (Izzie hasn't been around larger dogs very much, but Joan knew just how to address her behavior!)

Joan even took photos of my dog playing with hers, and printed them for me! And, she happily dispensed the medication my dog was taking twice a day, which I was sorry to have to ask.

I had to return earlier than expected, so I contacted Joan and DogVacay. She was so nice, and didn't mind at all that it was early evening before I would arrive. And, she seemed to enjoy my dog as much as my dog enjoyed being there!

I will definitely take my dog to stay with Joan again! What a fantastic experience for all of us!

Joan was great, we were both first time users of the site. She treated Max just like her own dog. He unfortunately had an issue pop up with his gallbladder that caused him to get very sick, including vomiting and diarrhea. She never complained once, her only concern was for his health. His condition got worse and she took it upon herself to drive him 45 minutes to an emergency vet. She spent an hour or two there and paid the bill herself! Then she took him home, gave him medicine twice a day and took care of our sick dog another two days until we got home.

I feel terrible that that was her first experience as a pet sitter, but I'm so thankful she was there to take care of Max for us. I would recommend her to anyone.
