I grew up with dogs in the house and they were always considered part of the family. I have a dog now and follow the same rules with her. There are limits, but she is lives with me, rather than me feeling that I am her owner.
A safe, caring environment with lots of attention is my priority. Pets need to know that there is someone there to provide them what they need, whether it is just food and water, or the feeling that they have a buddy and someone to protect them.
I live in a safe, quiet neighborhood in Wests Seattle, within 1/2 mile of a local, off-leash park.
Regarding food and treats, my preference is to give what the pet's owner provides, so that I know the pet's digestive system isn't getting anything strange.
My dog has a terrific curiosity for other dogs and will likely follow their lead whether they want to play, or just "hang out" quietly.
Dogs truly are Man's Best Friend. What better package could you want than unconditional love, packed into a fuzzy package of hugs and kisses. I'm always eager to meet new pets, am eager to see what makes them special, and I'm also always happy to see pet friends that I've already met.
