As a pet care provider I hope to make this a retirement "career". I have cared for pets for 33 years. As a physically active 60 year old, walking dogs or caring for them in their house is a perfect match for someone who has tired of desk jobs. Dog sitting or walking is a fun activity for both the pet and the Walker. All my life I've had dogs. Goldens, shelties, rescues, and Westies, Cairns, border collies, golden labs, Springers. Over many years, I've also sat for various Doodles, hounds, labs, Wheaton terriers, Bichon mixes, Maine Coon Cats, Akitas, Boykin spaniels, French bull dogs, and Pit Bulls. Along the way, I've learned to diagnose pet anxiety, and keep the pet from freaking out. I've also gotten non eating dogs to eat. I've picked up on pet illnesses and notified the owner, who has then encouraged me to call the vet. Most of all, I love all breeds and have transferred my parenting skills from children to pets. I love to let dogs run unleashed on empty tennis courts because they're usually fenced in and the dog cannot run away. If the leash is long enough, I often take dogs swimming in streams. I also,will roll around on the floor with puppies, or hold a dog in my lap if they allow it. I love to cuddle with a pet because it's comforting for both of us. With my own dogs, they like to be squirted with a hose or swim in a nearby stream. Mine love to chase balls and birds in our yard. I have a porch swing in the shade where they take naps. They are fed in the kitchen and dining room. They are puppies so,everything is new to,them, endless adventures. I do not host in my own home because of my own dogs. Too hectic!
