About Scott

15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hi, my name is Scott and I'm on here for one reason… I absolutely love dogs! I have grown up with dogs my entire life and have been a certified dog trainer since 2008.

Now, let me first address the fact that I'm not the cheapest on this site. Here are a few of the reasons why:

1) I know what the other dog hotels charge per stay and I know the type of service and environment they provide. They list things like, "personal room and bed, three prepared meals per day, a watering system, a sprinkler, etc." That's all fine of course, but at my place, your dog has a home to stay in, nonstop attention, access to nature walks, a lake, and freedom from that dog who we all know shows up at camp and frazzles every other dogs nerve!

2) They say a picture is worth a thousand words. The pictures and or videos I send to you will assure you that your pup is in good hands and is getting as much love as humanly possible! I take time to get to know your dog's personality and you'll know it!
I believe whole heartedly when you pick your dog up, you will notice the huge smile on his or her face and know they had the time of their life! I don't mean to toot my own horn, but the attention, care, and love your dogs receive while with me, are without question, second to none!

3) I am a certified dog trainer (ABC-"Animal Behavior College" based out of California) and am experienced in a number of obedience issues as well as teaching tricks. I have worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes, personality types, and obedience issues. Anything from separation anxiety to aggression to loose leash walking are the more common ones I have encountered and helped to improve. I will work with your dog if needed and can offer tips upon your return on the things we worked on as well as some remedies you can take with you.

4) I'm a very active person who loves to take a dog for walks/runs around the numerous trails close to my home. Depending on the activity level of the dog, I have access to miles and miles of trails and most dogs will get 4-5 walks/runs outside each day...depending on the weather of course! It should be noted that I also board mature dogs that may not need much exercise. I assure you, I'm also very well versed in just relaxing and enjoying some couch time!

5) My career allows me the flexibility to be home throughout the day regardless of the day of week, so your dog will have very little time spent alone.

6) I need nearly zero notice. If you're in a pinch for a sitter for whatever reason and my calendar shows free, I generally would be able to help!

Now, I realize that leaving your dog with someone for any amount of time can be a bit nerve racking...both for you and your pup. My sister still only leaves her dog with either me or my parents and I completely understand. When someone leaves their dog with me, they know their pup will be cared for as if it were my own. The fact that I don't own a dog, yet make as many trips for toys and treats as you do should probably tell you something!
You can count on me to send pictures and give updates of your dog's adventures and play time as I know that's something most dog lovers absolutely want to see! Being a certified trainer, I'll also address any behavior issues you would like me to.

Lastly, when people return home from trips of any kind, we just want to relax. We all joke that we "need a vacation from vacation"! I assure you your dog will be super excited to see you, but once home will be calm and collected and more than likely just want to relax right along with you!

The pictures shown are of dogs I have cared for as well as some I have helped to train over the years.

Last but not least, if you feel your dog must be boarded alone due to aggression, I probably am not for you. Crossover stays between dogs is fairly common and always a possibility. More importantly though is the fact that I can absolutely help with dog aggression! Most often, those who have a dog in a tussle of some kind are petrified to bring their dog anywhere close to others for the rest of the dogs life. What a sad existence for the pup! Re-introducing other dogs is essential and the only way I know to improve the behavior that scares most owners so badly.

Thank you for taking the time to take a closer look at my profile and hopefully I can help!

*NOTE* As much as I hate to see my house guests leave, I do charge a half day for pickups after 12pm...similar to that of a hotel, I have to have a "check out time"!

My dog had so much fun I don't think she wanted leave! Gives plenty of updates! My first time leaving my dog alone for more then a day and Scott's willingness to be understanding, keep to the routine, and patience makes the expietence truly custom to your needs and wants.

Scott was responsive and helpful from the beginning. He is accommodating and knowledgeable and I would definitely use him again!
Gracie is an older dog and has not played well with others in the past. On the first day of my trip I received a video text showing her walking nicely with other dogs!! Scott has that calm alpha demeanor that is so important to a dogs wellbeing. I received video and pics every day I was away. This meant so much to me. Scott may charge a bit more but he is worth every penny!

This was the first time we ever left our dog with someone besides a friend, and we knew she was in good hands. Scott sent pictures of her smiling and having a good time. She was completely babied. She had a big smile on her face when she came home, in fact, she really didn't want to leave. She made other dog friends there and I could tell she was thoroughly relaxed. We will definitely use Scott again.

Scott was awesome with Lucky, I am always so nervous about leaving him anywhere and he made me feel very comfortable about it! I really appreciated all the photo/video updates, and Lucky was as happy as can be at pick up! I would definitely use him again!

He responded right away and we agreed on a time to drop off my pup (Simba). The experience was great- Scott sent a few pictures of Simba, all of which he was happy looking or sleepy from play time. After I picked him up he was tired and behaved excellent for the rest of the day. I will most definitely continue to use Scott when I need someone to love on my pup. Thank you!

Bailey had a great time staying with Scott! Scott was flexible with our last minute scheduling and was very knowledgable. We would definitely recommend Scott!
Scott was amazing from the first message. Quick to respond, easy to book, and great communication. Getting multiple texts and photos throughout our dogs stay was incredible.

We felt like Scott loved our dogs as much as we do. Definitely will be repeat customers the next time we leave town!

Super happy to have found Scott. I have a puppy that can be a little time-consuming sometimes and Scott knew exactly how to care for her. He was able to provide me with some helpful advice and sent lots of cute pictures! I highly recommend him!
My elder, but exuberant, retriever has never stayed anywhere but her own home before, and does not make new dog friends quickly, but her weekend with Scott went perfectly. She loves to swim and got to do so every day with Scott and her two dogvacay roomies. Scott sent outstanding photo updates every day, and made our weekend away worry free. Will use his services again with confidence.

My yellow lab, Stuart, can't stop talking about the wonderful time he had staying with Scott for a couple of days. Great experience. He's already looking forward to the next time.
Scott was absolutely amazing to work with and great with our 2 dogs. This was our first time using a service like this and we were very hesitant because our dogs are our babies. We don't like the thought of leaving them behind and a doggy daycare seemed too overwhelming for our people focused pups. Think no more about it and book Scott! He was very welcoming and knowledgeable about training opportunities. Our one dog is pretty shy initially around new people but immediately sat on his lap during the meet-n-greet. We received pictures throughout our trip of the dogs looking like they were right at home. They say dogs are the best judge of character! We definitely plan to use him again and you should too. Thanks Scott!

Scott was great and Dogvacay easy to use.
We've never left our German Shepherd with anyone before, but meeting Scott immediately put us at ease. His professional and friendly manner and obvious experience with dogs made it easier to leave on vacation, and his daily updates/photos allowed us to enjoy a great time. Would highly recommend and plan to use him again. Thanks Scott!

We left our very energetic pup, Bacchus, with Scott over the course of our wedding weekend. Scott gave us such incredible peace of mind- we never worried about Bacchus once! Scott provided us with daily photo updates and he helped Bacchus, who is leash reactive and has a hard time initially meeting other dogs, becoming happy and comfortable with his canine companions. Bacchus came home tired and healthy, something that we have previously struggled with when sending him to boarding. We would wholeheartedly recommend Scott to our friends!

Scott was great and our dogs came home happy!
Felt totally comfortable leaving Cici for the first time with Scott. He updated me with a photo even though she was only with him for the day - and it was on short-notice too. Thanks!
Scott made me feel very comfortable about leaving my dog Wilma with him even though she has shown aggression toward other dogs in the past. She made a new dog friend who she played with all weekend and on top of that Scott took her running and swimming so she got plenty of exercise. Wilma came home tired and happy!

We left our little terrier Finley with Scott for the past two weekends while we were out of town. Scott was there when we dropped him off and was very friendly and an obvious dog lover. So far, both times Scott has had a total of three dogs in his house and still somehow maintains order! Finley has come home exhausted from playing and it's been amazing. Scott also texted me pictures of my dog throughout the weekend because he knew I was nervous to leave him. Highly recommend!

Totally happy with Suki's stay with Scott!! He was able to do things with Suki that we haven't been able to. She came back a happy dog and plan on using Scott again in the future. Highly recommended! We don't travel often but I know now we have a place we can use in the future and know she is being taken care of!

scott is awesome. mya and beanie loved their time with scott. 5 stars all the way.
Scott took very good care of my very spoiled pooch :) I'd highly recommend him to anyone!
i cannot fully state how happy we were with Scott's services. Previously we always used a kennel type of situation for our two miniature schnauzers but our little one always ended up sick upon our return. Scott treated our two pups as if they were his own. He sent us frequent updates with pics and was able to show that he had definitely taken the time to get to know their individual personalities. They were taken on frequent walks and were still very happy upon our return. We will definitely use Scott every time we need a pet sitter.

Scott was great with our dog, Denali. Unfortunately, Denali had a sudden lameness that caused him to be on leash-only, short walks and no roughhousing right before we dropped him off. Scott took care of him with his meds and kept him calm. He even followed up after to visit to find out if we got a diagnosis. (Which we did by then). My only negative, was I thought Scott did not take multiple dogs unless he "knew the dog" only to find another dog there when we dropped off Denali for the first time. Scott does take multiple dogs which, we would have preferred not having other dogs given Denali's medical problem, but by then it was too late to do anything else. Scott sent photos every day with updates which was nice to see him "resting" with the other dog that was there.

Scott gave our dog a home away from home while we were on vacation. We are very pleased that we found him, and we will use Scott again.
Scott was great! He's extremely flexible and was great with Tucker. I'd definitely recommend him and Tucker is looking forward to his next stay!
Scott was a great host, very accommodating and attentive. I would definitely use him again for either a short or longer stay. Thanks Scott!
Scott did an amazing job looking after our 80 lb, active dog. I wish I could post a picture on this review because our dog was so happy, relaxed and calm when we picked him up from Scott's, it was unreal. I'm not sure I know who this dog is! We have taken our dog Billy to daycares and overnight stays at "dog resorts" before and when we would come pick him up he would be an anxious disaster because of his separation anxiety problems. But when we picked him up from Scott's... it was the strangest experience. Our anxious dog was calm, collected and relaxed. My boyfriend and I have never seen our dog so calm. Scott is amazing and he was great with Billy and Billy even made friends with the other dogs Scott was sitting for. Scott knows a lot about dogs of all sizes and personalities and even gave us some pointers on how to make Billy less anxious at home. My boyfriend and I are amazed at his skill with dogs and couldn't be happier with our experience and the care, attention and love he gave our dog. We can't wait to use his services again in the future. We are so lucky we found him! Scott is the best. Definitely recommended.

Scott was great with Piper. He took her for walks and runs and worked on training her too! He also sent a daily update with a picture or video. I'd definitely leave Piper with him next time I'm out of town!
