About Janet

12 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
You can rest assured that your dog will be well-cared for in my home as I only care for one dog at a time. I will consider "siblings" (2 max.) as I realize that often clients have more than one furry friend. Our home has been a dog home for the past 12 years and we recently had to say good-bye to our beloved friend Hershey. Our house is very empty without her. I work from home so your dog would not be alone. We have a fenced in backyard which is great for being allowed outside to play. We are steps from the park where we will go at least 3x/day for exercise and fun. I am partial to larger dogs as our dog was 85 lbs. of love (mixed breed of chocolate newfie/chocolate lab/golden retriever) and that is what I am accustomed to. I am very well-known in my neighborhood with my dog friends as a regular dog walker, and am accustomed to bumping in to other dogs while on our walks. I also am attentive to individual dog's needs as our senior dog had a few (medication, lameness, slow walks, etc.). I do have allergies, so certain breeds are not good for me, but that could be discussed up front.

I have known Janet in 40 years. She is an amazingly sweet, caring, dedicated person. A devoted mother, wife she emotes goodness. Those qualities transpire in her love of dogs. She simply adores them and treats them like members of the family. If I was not 4 hours away, I would entrust my Bernese to her care without any hesitation, reservation, as I know that our Lily would be spoiled with Janet

I first met Janet about five years ago when she brought Hershey in to my veterinary clinic. Janet was always attentive to Hershey’s needs, and always knew when something was ‘off’ with her girl. There has never been a better cared for dog than Hershey!
Great clients understand the importance of developing trust when working with their veterinarian. It’s this trusting relationship that allows a veterinarian to provide the best possible care for pets. Janet is a shining example of a great client, who ultimately became a wonderful friend to everyone at our veterinary hospital.
I would trust Janet to care for my own dog and I will be recommending Hershey’s House of Hugs pet sitting services to my clients.

I have personally and professionally known Janet for the past 13 years. I can certainly attest to Janet's integrity, professionalism and kind and caring nature.

Janet has always had a loving and caring attitude toward animals, with her own pets as well as the pets of others. Not only is she a responsible pet owner, but also has been a trusted pet sitter for friends in the ommunity. As a long time pet owner, Janet has always sought out responsible pet care for her own pets. The safety and quality of life for her beloved dog Hershey has always been paramount in importance to her.

Janet is also an advocate for pet adoption and rescue, having aligned herself with several animal rescue agencies as well as adopting her longtime dog companion as a rescue, and first fostering Hershey, making sure the fit was right.

I know personally that Janet has also gone out of her way to help animals in need in our community. She has a solid knowledge of dog care and behavior. She is patient and kind with all her animal and human friends alike!

On a professional level, after working alongside Janet for many years, Janet is hard-working trustworthy and responsible.

As a dog owner myself, I would happily have Janet care for my dog while I am on vacation and feel confident that my pet is in good hands!.

I have no doubt that Janet would make an excellent pet sitter and pet caregiver and would highly recommend her to your company.

Janet has been our neighbor, and friend, for over 10 years and this relationship started when we both got our dogs around the same time. When out walking them, we would stop and chat. During these encounters, Janet always addressed our dog, Penny, with a "hello" and a few kind words, The animals matter and Janet always shows them respect.
Janet's beloved canine, Hershey, was well cared! This was evident in so many ways: Hershey's presence is everywhere in the home, family photos throughtout, with Hershey in the centre of the family; huge basket of toys; dog vitamins on the counter, next to the container of special treats; walked Hershey several times a day, always adjusting the length and frequency based on Hershey's age, and ability; consulted with their vet regularly.

We would reciprocate taking care of one another's dogs when we were away from the house for an extended period, ie several hours. Janet would always ensure that Hershey had someone checking in on her to let her out and feed her according to her usual routine. And when she came in to take care of our dog, she went beyond what she needed to do by sitting with Penny for an extended period. And sending us updates by text or notes left for us upon our return.

I would never hesitate to recommend Janet as a caregiver of someone's animal!!
