30 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
PLEASE Take a Minute to read my entire profile!!!!!!!! One spot is guaranteed for regular clients so check on availability.

I love dogs!! I have experience with dog rescue, dog boarding facilities, and previous work as a vet tech. My passion is my dog! Both my husband and I are dog lovers and experienced with special needs dogs.

please do not ask to pick up your pup everyday. we are not a kennel !!!
****I use professional grooming products and dryers for my bathing services. Request a bath with your stay! Nail trim and ears cleaned included.*********

Drop off times are accepted after 9 am and pick up before 6pm.
My rate for large breed dogs is $45.00 per night, and $75.00 per night for any pup over 80 lbs

Meet and greets are required with large breed dogs, and I do not take large dogs 3 years or under or over 60 lbs. Dogs must be be leash trained. .I do not accept unaltered dogs, dogs with separation anxiety, destructive behavior , not housebroken, excessive barker, and dogs that cannot walk politely on a leash. Fenced yards are not allowed in any gated community on Hilton Head.

I live in Hickory Forest in Hilton Head Plantation on a cul de sac. I do walk dogs up to 4 miles per day dependent on age and that walk includes a stroll on the beach 1/4 mile from my home.

When I picked up my dog, a 14.5 y/o mini poodle who is vision and hearing impaired and asked how it went, Susan told me he was "the worst dog ever." She told me that she is clear on her website that she doesn't take dogs with separation anxiety. She listed the dog's numerous behaviors that negatively impacted her home and activities the 9 days the dog was with her. Susan told me that the person with whom I board my dog in another state, who also advertises their services on a national website, "is lying to me" that my dog is not a problem and is a welcome guest. Susan told me the person "has figured out a way to deal with him...probably has a fenced yard and dumps him there all day." She concluded with the advice that the dog never be boarded again but that I should "hire someone to come in several times a day and walk him so he could stay in his own surroundings where he is comfortable."
Our first experience with Susan and DogVacay was very good. We're very glad we tried this "Uber-like" vacation for dogs! Our pup came out of Susan's house smiling, happy and clean so we feel we can assume he had a very good time!
LILO our Bichon Friese had a great stay with Susan. In the past she has only stayed at one Boarding place and I was concerned about how she would do. It was evident from the beginning that she was extremely happy and Lilo knew she was in good hands. I had read all of Susan's reviews and liked the fact that she had many repeat customers. I will definitely board with her again. She was also very calm as I was flustered with too many details of a family reunion. She accommodated my schedule to which I was very grateful. LILO is 13 and Susan was perfect to take care of her meds. Many thanks to Susan.
Susan and her husband were very kind people and my pups were very happy when I picked them up. I would definitely recommend them.
My dog seemed happy and contented after her visit
My dog's stay with Susan was the first time that my little Shih tzu's were away from home for overnight care as well as day care. To be truthful, I was so anxious about leaving my little " fur children" I wasn't sure how it would all shake out.
We had a meet and greet in a neutral location to introduce Susan's dog Brodie to my little one's as well as a meet for us.
Susan put my mind to rest with her practical and keen knowledge of dogs, not to mention her affection for these little ones. Susan's dog Brodie is so balanced and sweet, as well a therapy dog, I expressed to my two fur babies that Brodie is who they should emulate! Susan sent texts and pictures to keep me updated and most importantly to me, I knew I could call her and check in, without feeling like I was bothering her.
I am still away and my friend picked up my "hooligans " and brought them back to my home for the remainder of my trip. Her evaluation was just as positive, my girls are happy and content. Thank you Susan for such a positive experience!

Susan treats Lacey like family. We will always call Susan when we bring Lacey to HHI!
With Susan's extensive dog background, we were comfortable to leave our dog with mobility issues in her care. Susan also followed his detailed medicine schedule with ease! We picked up our dog after a 4 night stay, and he was calm and had a big doggy smile!
We have taken our dog to Susan several times since moving to HHI. He loves it!! Truly a home away from home. It makes us so much more comfortable leaving him knowing he is being treated like a member of her family. Thanks, Susan!
Susan is great! Violet came home happy and relaxed. Susan home bakes Doggy treats and sent a bag home with Violet. She loves them!
I boarded my beloved dog Belle with Susan for the first time recently and I could not be happier! Susan had lots of good things to say about Belle and I will feel very comfortable to board Belle with Susan again.

Belle was super clean because Susan groomed her and washed her bed-a nice surprise for me. Susan fed Belle her special diet which was delicious, I am sure.

Susan knows a lot about dog behavior and passed along some good tips.

In-home boarding for Belle at Susan's is the perfect solution when I travel. I have used kennels, overnight dog sitters in my home, etc. I love taking Belle to Susan's home because she has other dogs and humans around to keep her company. Susan's husband is also fantastic and obviously loves dogs. Belle loves having men around and was quite attached to my recently deceased husband.

I am super pleased that friends recommended Susan to me and I would love to pass the recommendation along to others looking for the perfect person (and home) with whom to entrust their precious dog. Thank you Susan and DogVacay.
Susan was very personable and Georgie Girl was very relaxed with her. It was like she and GG were old friends.
Susan absolutely is a "dog person", as am I, and I knew as soon as I met her that I should have no worries about her taking good care of my little "senior" dog. Her home is spacious, with plenty of room for the dogs to run around and socialize, and she takes them for frequent walks. My dog Lady was healthy and happy when I picked her up. I give Susan the highest recommendation for all she does to take care of her Vacay-tioners.
Picked up our Golden Scout and she was happy and well. Really appreciate the early drop off and late pick up availability!
Susan picks up on both my dogs' personalities and quirks right away and ensures that they are comfortable, safe and happy. Her low key manner and understanding of rescue dog challenges help both dogs and owner have a great Vacay!
We feel very fortunate to have found someone as wonderful as Susan to take care of our beloved pugs when we travel. Susan accommodates their individual needs and personalities. We welcome and trust her informed tips on dog care and feeding. We picked up two clean and happy pugs. Thank you, Susan.
Susan can be trusted with the ones you love! She is very knowledgeable and generous with her time and home while caring for your dog. She becomes an immediate extension of your family!
Susan took great care of Samantha - 5 stars! Samantha has had separation issues since she was a puppy so staying in a home with caring people and canine friends was a blessing ! A. Mumaw
My 11 year old lab had to have unexpected surgery 3 weeks prior to her stay at Susan's and Susan was willing to give her the extra care that her recovery required, which was very important to me.
Leo's 4th visit was his best ever... He loves spending time with Susan! Thanks again, Karen
I had a great experience with Susan. My boyfriend and I travel with our small dog Rosie, and at the last minute realized we needed a dog sitter for the next day. Susan promptly accepted our request, and was very communicative. She is a dog lover and has a wonderful dog Brody. Our dogs hit it off and played for hours and hours. Susan took lots of pictures, was flexible with our drop off and pick up schedules, and had a clean safe home. We definitely want to connect with her again soon.
Lucy is spoiled rotten!! Susan is so caring and a wonderful "dog person"! I know Lucy is being really well taken care of & it makes our vacation so much better knowing that!
Susan's home is very dog friendly and she is so wonderful with our dogs. We are very grateful to have such a comfortable and convenient place to leave them when we need to.
I honestly felt like I was leaving Mack with a friend! Susan was so easy going and understanding with our travel plans, and Mack was in good hands! He was treated like a member of the family and the pack. We will definitely recommend her to anyone visiting Hilton Head, and will be using her again when we come down. For some reason Hilton Head's kenneling situation is still behind the times, leaving them in cages apart from eachother - waaaay too stressful for my baby. Susan is just what we needed!
We found DogVacay on line last minute and My husband and I sure hit the jackpot Finding Sue to take care for our two dogs for a week while staying on Hilton Head Island and having to go home for a week. She loves dogs and our dogs were no exception. They smelled so good when we returned after their baths and their diet with some of her natural foods were a real hit. So I without a doubt would recommend Sue to anyone. We will use her again next year! Julie Stevens,Saginaw, Michigan
Tyson stays with Susan at least once a month. He's loved and taken good care of and he's always happy.
Very pleased with all arrangements. Patches seemed to have enjoyed the stay.
Once again Leo had a great stay with Susan! We look forward to our next visit. Thanks, Karen
Tyson spends at least one night a month with Susan and he is very happy there! She does a great job socializing any other dogs that might be staying with her.
Bo is completely pooped from his week with Susan! He clearly had a great time, and I think was sad I leave. I would gladly use her again to watch my "child".
Susan is lovely and she took good care of my dog. She gave her a bath before I picked her up and said that Sundays are Spa days. Was very happy with the care.
Our dog, Millie, came back happy and contented. We are glad to have someone that will care so much for her when we go away. I think Millie is looking forward to spending time at Susan's in the near future!
Tyson just spent his longest stay ever away from home (10 days) and he stayed with Susan. He loves his time at her house and we appreciate her good care and love to him!
Our dog loved Susan and all her care. She took amazing care of our 12 year old puppy.
I can't find the words to thank Susan for opening up her home and heart to our dog, Daisy. She went above and beyond to make Daisy comfortable and at home and kept us posted throughout the week. Since Daisy is an older dog there were many health issues involved and Susan was calm and more than capable in handling her special needs. I would not hesitate to recommend her services and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts !!
it was an absolute pleasure dealing w/ Susan. You can tell she loves dogs very much. She was more than accommodating in taking care of our four legged family member. Her response to all my questions was quick which helped us secure a place for doggie to stay during the day while we enjoyed the beach. She was flexible w/ drop off and pick up times which was an added bonus. Our dog loved staying w/ Susan and it was evident when i would drop him off in the morning and he would willingly wag his tail. This was followed up latter on when i would go to pick him up and he wanted to stay. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is very satisfied i would rate my experience as a 15--way off the charts. Totally satisfied and then some!
Susan was wonderful. Snowy wasn't sure she wanted to come home. I felt very comfortable leaving her with Susan Sheri Farbstein
Susan was a godsend! I was able to take a real vacation on short notice while knowing that my two girls would be happy, a little bit spoiled, and safe with her. Susan was well-prepared to handle my somewhat nervous terrier rescue as well as my attention- grabbing Pom. They got plenty of exercise and were clean and relaxed when I picked them up. As much as I hate leaving my dogs at any time, I now feel comfortable knowing that I can, if needed, without feeling guilty or worrying.
Tyson stays at Susan's frequently and always seems to happy to go in and happy and tired when he's leaving......good signs of fun!
Tyson is in his bed worn out - a true sign of another great stay with Susan!
We were very pleased with our experience leaving our two 12 year old pugs with Susan. Her home is immaculate but also very dog friendly. Susan took wonderful care of our dogs. We highly recommend Susan.
Tyson is going to Susan's tomorrow for another day/night stay and he'll be happy to be hanging out with her and her family/friends!
Tyson gets the royal treatment with Susan...he's very happy and "at home" with her and her family/friends!
This was the second time Susan watched Leo during the day. Once again, she took excellent care of him and he was always eager return.
Always a comfortable feeling knowing our pup is in Susan's care! She opens her home right up and gives as much love as we would. She stays in touch while you are away and you know you've made the right decision!
Susan was very loving to Tyson and I believe he had a great time staying in her home! If she'll have him, he'll get to stay with her again!
This was our second time to leave Doris with Susan. She was attentive to Doris's needs. Doris seemed happy!
Susan provided daycare for Leo, our young Lab, while we were organizing our new condo. We really appreciated her flexibility with our schedule. Leo was eager to meet her and return for future visits. He was never stressed, but always calm and happy when we returned to pick him up. Thanks to Susan with got so much accomplished with no worries about Leo.
Susan took my dog in on very short notice over a holiday. She sent me text updates and lots of photos while I was away. I could tell my dog was being loved and played with. When I picked him up it was obvious he was happy and felt right at home amongst her family. I am so glad I found someone I can count on in the future. I know my pup will be happy to return and I will be worry-free!
Susan was great! From the moment we met she made our pomeranians feel at home. She is knowledgeable and has a lovely home with lots of room for guests. We loved the photo updates she sent almost every day. We hope to book with her again in the future.
Susan did a fantastic job caring for my dog, Lily.
She sent a text message to me the first night letting me know that Lily was doing fine and I also received pictures of Lily later in the week which i found to be such a nice way to let me know that Lily was happy and doing fine. My dog received so much attention and care and i am so grateful to Susan for providing such a great home for Lily.
Thank you Susan!
Susan is really nice and welcoming! She seems very well educated about dogs and helped me with my pups tummy issues. Very considerate and really cares about animals. Wonderful experience.
ABSOLUTELY PAWSOME!!! We were so nervous leaving Willie... he had just had his stitches out from a surgery 2 weeks earlier. Susan is THE BEST!!!! After the Meet & Greet we realized how dog friendly her home is, and what a dog person she is and our fears were allayed. She treated Willie just like Colin, her own wonderful little dog. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing Willie was enjoying his. Thank you !!!
Susan was gracious enough to take our dog on short notice for an evening while we attended a wedding. It was great she let us pick him up late so we did not have to board him at a kennel overnight. It was also convenient to find a sitter on Hilton Head after we made such a long trip from out of town. Would definately consider again.
The Vacay worked great. I think Bogie felt right at home. Would definitely do it again. Thanks Susan.
