I would welcome the opportunity to get to know and care for your dog in a loving, positive and attentive environment. Dogs have been my passion since my early childhood. As a child, I begged my parents for a dog for years (sound familiar?). Being responsible animal people, my parents curtailed my urges until I was old enough to understand the responsibility of caring for another living being.
Since then I have developed a pet care philosophy that highlights positive reinforcement, exercise, mental stimulation, physical touch and a safe environment for the well being of the animal (and human). In my adult life, I have had the pleasure of raising, training and having a memorable relationship with Sergei, (a Border Collie/ Jindu / Curly Coat mix) and Hans (a Springer Spaniel). Two dogs with very different personalities, whom I loved dearly. I have a Masters degree in Zoology, therefore I am quite familiar with animal behavior. Your dog(s) would be welcome at my home and given attention and love while you are away.
Dogs have free range throughout my house and have 24/7 access via a dog door to the back yard. My yard is securely fenced in and mostly grass. Inside my home, dogs can roam around and are welcome to cuddle on the couch with me or hang in the kitchen while I cook. Currently, I do not have pets, therefore I can take in dogs who do not feel comfortable around other animals, and/or who want a lot of individual attention. I am a part time, returning adult graduate student and have a lot of home time to spend with your dog.
A typical day would include morning, afternoon and evening exercise and play, as your dog tolerates and needs. Napping and cuddling is also welcomed. I will honor the schedule and feeding regimen you provide for your dog. Initial "meet and greets" are a requirement to determine compatibility.
