About Mark and Vicky

30 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
In memory of our dog Gracie we are offering our service as a Bed and Breakfast style dog retreat. Our home is a calm and happy place. As your hosts we are dedicated to the comfort and care of your pets. We want to know all about your preferences in order to make the stay just to your liking. Our house is clean and comfortable. The back yard is shady and fenced. Our guests are welcome to sit on the furniture and we know they will enjoy the view!

We’ve been happily married for 24+ years. We enjoy bird watching, hobby gardening and any excuse to be outside in nature. We are empty nesters. We have both loved dogs since we were pups! We’ve had as many as three dogs at a time and they were always considered members of the family.

We don’t have any pets at this time and look forward to hosting yours!

We are home bodies available 16 hours per day on weekdays (4:00 pm to 8:00 am) and are available most all of weekends and holidays. There’s plenty of time for play, walks and petting!

Many thanks to Mark and Vicky for taking care of Eddie. When we came to pick him up, he seemed content to just stay with them! They were wonderful at noting his schedule and sent us many pictures. We definitely will be letting Eddie "vacation" with them again :)

Very good care?
Mark and Vicky were absolutely great with my Gracie. They were very reassuring throughout her stay by sending photos at multiple times throughout her stay which made me feel very confident that she was in good hands. They are both very caring individuals. Their home was very clean. They had a well thought out plan to handle multiple pets in their care to keep them separate and safe. I highly recommend Mark and Vicky. They truly had our best interest as their priority. Thank you so much!
Our Daisy now has the most wonderful grandparents on earth. Mark and Vicky are so great that we just could not say anything but to let you know how blessed we are to have found them.
They are soft spoken, caring, willing to please us and Daisy. We just have never had an experience like the one we just had. Their home became Daisy's. She had the whole house just as though she was home with us. They even aloud her to sleep with them! Can't wait to go on another trip so Daisy can stay with her grandparents Mark and Vicky. Daisy had walks and loved their fence in yard. Mark and Vicky sent us pictures of her enjoying her new home. We just can't say enough about them.
Thanks again for letting us find them.

We had a wonderful experience leaving our pooches with Mark and Vicky. They made sure our dogs were completely at home with them and updated us throughout the weekend on how everyone was doing. We had no concerns leaving for the weekend. Thanks Mark and Vicky!
This was our first time using DogVacay. Mark and Vicky are wonderful. I knew the moment I met them that Sophie would be in great hands. They cared for her like she was their own. We received so many wonderful pictures while on our 3 day trip. This is the first time I was truly able to enjoy a trip without worrying about her. I can't imagine taking Sophie to anyone else when we travel. I am very excited to have found them. :)
This was our first experience using Dog Vacay as well as dog sitters instead of a large boarding facility for our two small dogs. The difference was astounding! The personal attention to our pets alone was invaluable. Mark and Vicky made sure that they knew everything there was to know about our pets ahead of the visit to make sure they would be as comfortable as possible. Drop off was a breeze and during our vacation we got so many fun and sweet photos of our pets with updates on how they were doing - it was almost like they were right there with us! We could tell Mark and Vicky were caring for our dogs just as we would have, with lots of love, attention, cuddles, walks and treats.

I can honestly say we had a much more relaxed and happy vacation knowing our dogs were being so well cared for while we were gone. I doubt we will ever go back to a large boarding center again. It was the first time our dogs came home after a trip where they weren't upset, stressed, and anxious. They were happy to see us, but we could also tell they had been relaxed and treated so well the entire time they spent at Gracie's Bed and Biscuit. We've already booked their return visit!

Thank you Mark and Vicky! Our dogs thank you too!
If you are looking for someone to really care for your dog(s) when you must leave them with someone, then you really need to choose Mark and Vicky as your "sitters".
They provided a clean, warm, friendly "just like home" environment and routine for my best friend, Maggie.
I recently had to travel/work for 5 days and had to find someone to care for Maggie.
She is 9+ years old and is really sweet and totally spoiled. My wife purchased her as a pup back in 2007.
Maggie is and has always been a great little dog but has become even more important in my life as my wife passed away 15 months ago.
Maggie is literally now my best "buddy, pal and friend".
I feel very fortunate that I came across the DogVacay site that led me to Mark and Vicky.
Wilson had loads of fun! I was worried since this was his first time away from home, but turns out I had nothing to worry about. Mark and Vicky are the absolute best! They sent lots of photos and updates. They treated Wilson like he was their own, with lots of love and attention. Wilson now has a second family!
Mark and Vicky did a wonderful job with my dog. They took time getting to know my dog and making sure they understood all her needs and behaviors as well as letting me know about their routines and other dogs that would be there. Their calm and easy going way is perfect for any kind of dog and worked especially well for my anxious Aussie. Mark and Vicky sent pictures twice a day, every single day and answered my emails and calls right away. They could not have been nicer or more professional. Great people. Excellent dog watchers.
We recently moved back 5o Columbus after 22 years in Minnesota. Our Haley had always stayed with the same couple when we went on vacation. One of the biggest stresses for me when moving back was finding a place for her to stay when we went out of town. I couldn't imagine boarding her at a traditional kennel. Thank goodness for people like Mark & Vicky! They watched Haley while we were on spring break for two weeks. Vicky sent pictures of Haley's adventures at least twice a day.
Haley had a great time and was spoiled rotten. I'm so thankful to have found someone we trust to watch her while we are on vacation so we don't have to feel guilty or worry about taking time away from home!
My dog Buster has stayed with Mark and Vicky multiple times now and I hope I never need to go elsewhere. They are very flexible with drop off/pick up and were very accommodating when our return flight home was cancelled. Lots of pictures every day and when he comes home he is calm and tired. They clearly enjoy the dogs and are very thoughtful about mixing personalities. I highly recommend them!
Recently moved to Columbus and when holidays quickly rolled up, needed somewhere to leave my dog. Found dog vacay and liked the concept versus the big business kennels. Mark and Vicky were so easy to work with, respond very quickly, professional, and very warm and friendly. I felt very comfortable leaving Buster. When I picked him up and took him home, he was so much more calm than when he would return from our old kennel (which I loved). They emailed info and pics about three times a day. I will definitely be leaving him there again, in just a couple weeks as a matter of fact!
Jillie always has a great time at Gracie's Bed & Biscuit whether she hunting for pesky rabbits in the back yard, enjoying her many walks, or just snuggling. We know she is enjoyis her "vacation" as much as we enjoy ours - and there are always lots of great pictures and updates to document her vacay!
Mark and Vicky did an excellent job taking care of our little 5 year old beagle. Lots and lots of walks provided our pup the opportunity to look for rabbits, her favorite activity. Mark and Vicky provided us with detailed updates with lots of pictures at least once a day. They obviously love dogs and are a very nice couple. They thoroughly interviewed us to understand our dog's habits, and routines, likes and dislikes. Their large fenced backyard was like a giant playground for our pup. She loved to perch on their picnic table and keep guard over the yard. Jillie had a wonderful time and we will definitely use Gracie's Bed and Biscuit again!!!
Once again Cato's stay with Mark and Vickywas like going to his second home. They are loving care givers and Cato has taken to his stays with them like a second home. We know Cato as fear aggression issues from when he was abused as a puppy before the jack Russel rescue team found him.

Mark and Vicky have made substantial progress in teaching Cato how to divert his attention using the code word "enough" coupled with liberal rewards when he disengages from the window. We are so grateful to Mark & Vicky for their efforts and success.
Each time we leave Cato our Jack Russell with Mark and Vicky all the anxiety associated with his former kennel stays seems to vaporize. Cato is so well cared for, walked, and let to chase squirrels in their fenced in back yard. Three times each day, Mark and Vicky share photos of Cato's daily activities, so we can watch first hand as he romps, plays and sleeps. In fact, Mark and Vicky have sent us some of the best portraits of Cato we've ever seen.
Mark & Vicky are awesome! Our dog Coco had a wonderful stay with them. So nice to know our dog is in loving and caring home while we were away on vacation. You will not find a nicer couple to take care of your dog. They sent us 3 emails a day with photos letting us know how she was doing. I highly recommend Mark & Vicky!
Mark and Vicky are so loving and kind when Cato visits and New Year's Eve was no exception. What used to be a yipping, anxiety-ridden half hour trip to a Kennel is now a happy tail-wagging five minute joy ride (for us too!)

Their fenced back yard is a veritable squirrel game preserve, lots of long walks and beautiful photos. And a classic sleeping Cato on New Year's Eve with the caption: "10PM is the new Midnight" To cap it off, Vicky offered us a "lucky Buckeye" candy when we came to pick up Cato - and the OSU Buckeyes roared back to beat No. 1 Alabama just as Vicky assured us would happen if we popped the Buckeyes into our mouths!
For this Thanksgiving, we were incredibly thankful for Gracie's Bed and Biscuit! Mark and Vicky are incredible and really provided an awesome level of service for us and our Basset Hound Maddy. My wife and I werent able to bring Maddy with us to our family's Thanksgiving holiday. We were pretty concerned honestly because we figured most DogVacay hosts wouldnt be available for the holiday but were pleasantly surprised to find Mark and Vicky.

They made a real attempt prior to our dropoff to figure out all of Maddy's "quirks" (there are several). They event asked what kind of commands we were working on to help train here a bit during her stay. They also sent us 3-4 emails with pictures of Maddy enjoying their amazing fenced-in yard and the many walks they took her on.

This was our first DogVacay experience and we will DEFINITELY be back! We have only taken Maddy to kennels in the past and the peace of mind of knowing she was getting individual attention from true "dog people" really helped put us at ease.
Cato enjoyed his second visit with Mark and Vicky last weekend allowing us to watch our Wabash College Little Giants trounce the DePauw Tigers in the Monon Bell Clasic (our version of OSU/Michigan). Gone was the terrible anxiety that we and Cato shared on the drive to the kennel, replaced by Cato leaping out of the car to join Mark in their beautiful fenced back yard to try and lower the squirrel population. Even over the short weekend, we got loads of photos of our "handsome boy" (Mark and Vicky's words, not ours) to share with our Indiana friends. If I didn't know better, I'd say Mark was a little sad to say goodbye to Cato - a bonding that makes us so happy and relieved to have found the perfect place. A "Vacay" for all of us!
Mark and Vicky are a dream come true for our Jack Russell Cato, a 11 year old rescue with fear aggression issues with other dogs (there are three on the planet he loves, though). The anxiety when leaving for the kennel that kept him from day one was just getting to be too overwhelming for us and for Cato. Mark and Vicky have a lovely fenced back yard with dozens of squirrel targets of opportunity for Cato. He settled in with them, had lots of walks, and probably began to wear a path in their rug playing fetch with squeaky toys. We are grateful we found Mark and Vicky and the peace of mind they give us.
