About Lacey

15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I am a lifelong animal lover and have volunteered in the past to foster and rehabilitate cats and dogs for animal rescue groups. Your dog will be as well cared for in my home as he'd be in yours. I will make sure that you as an owner are completely at ease having your fur kid in my care, and I will send you updates as often as you'd like. I'm an artist who works from home and am available day and night to make sure your dog has an amazing stay with us. My husband often works from home as well and loves to play with the different pups in our care. Our house has a fenced yard, and I walk dogs individually on the side streets in my neighborhood. We had a reverse osmosis system installed in our kitchen sink, so your dog will only get the best filtered water while in our care. Ensuring the safety and contentment of all the dogs in my care is my highest priority, so I only watch friendly dogs.

Our basset hound Duke is friendly to other dogs, but a bit grumpy to human guests and will give you a proper basset hound howl upon your arrival. He loves having doggie friends over and will chase and wrestle with his doggie pals. He gets along well with large and small breeds because even though he is a large breed, he's a shortie who stands eye level with most smaller friends. He tends to be low energy most of the time and is easy going.

From taking care of so many breeds, I've learned that all dogs are different. Maybe your dog wants to endlessly play fetch, just wants to sit and chew on her favorite toy, or wants to curl up on someone's lap. We allow dogs on the furniture, and your dog can snuggle in bed with us at night if she chooses. Does your dog hate it when someone takes away his toy or really dislike having his belly rubbed? Telling me about your pet's quirks is really helpful as well.

My house has big, low windows facing the street, and I've found that the dogs love gazing out at passers-by. We spend much of the day out playing in the yard when weather allows, but dogs are never left unattended while outside. We have plenty of toys and soft places for dogs to rest. Your dog will get individual attention and care while staying with us because we care about quality not quantity and want to build lasting relationships with repeated guests. My garden home is a pup's paradise, and my regular clients say that their dogs are always excited to come over.

A meet and greet is required before I can commit to your dog's first stay, even for last minute bookings, because my highest priority is ensuring a great stay for all my guests. I might request having your dog over for a few hours (at no cost) before committing to an extended stay as dogs sometimes act differently in the absence of their owners. Some owners even prefer to book a day of daycare before a long stay.

I can accommodate pick ups as late as 9pm and drop offs as early as 7am. I will try my best to accommodate your scheduling needs.
I charge extra for holidays and for certain special needs dogs as well.

I offer a 50% discount on my pet portraits to all of my daycare and boarding clients.

Lacey is my cousin and she's been an animal lover since we were kids. She was always out walking the neighbors' dogs or fostering a litter of kittens for the local animal rescue, and then spent time helping to rehabilitate rescue dogs so they could be adopted by new owners. She herself adopted a dachshund who spent 5 years in a cage in a Missouri puppy mill and worked for a long time potty training her and correcting her aggressive behaviors. Lacey was devastated when Petunia passed, but she gave that dog an amazing life. She's been an outspoken animal rights activist appearing on local tv and being featured on the front page of our town paper here in Connecticut, and she has donated several of her beautiful pet portraits to help raise funds for animals in need. She used to take care of my terrier before she moved out west, and she always spoiled him so much!! Max and I really miss her, and anyone out there in Oregon would be really lucky to find a spot at Garden Home Fur Friends!

Lacey is great! She used to walk my dog Pete for me every day and take him over to play with her basset hounds for a bit before bringing him back home and giving him his daily afternoon snack when she lived next door to me. She always sent the best pictures! We'll have Pete over to her house the next time we go out of town!

Thanks Lacey! We're so happy to have found you! Potato got so excited as we were pulling into the driveway and zoomed off into the yard to play with his new friends. The pictures and updates really made my day! Potato snoozed the whole evening when he got home.
Potato had his first short day of daycare with Lacey today and was so happy when I picked him up! She took him for a walk and they spent the afternoon playing in the yard enjoying the sunshine! I'm looking forward to bringing him back tomorrow for another day of fun!
The review box limited my comments, so sorry for the vague description. I am leaving this review in the spirit of helping others find a sitter that will work well for them. Lacey is equipped to sit more lethargic or senior dogs, but if you have a playful/energetic dog, you can find a better sitter elsewhere.  I was very disappointed with the service I received and the explanations I got. I was mysteriously forced to find alternative arrangements for my dog 1 day into a 4 day trip while I was across the country. There was no indication of bad behavior in our communications before this, in fact everything seemed great. It look a lot of poking to get answers and ended up being a situation that could have easily been avoided and handled a lot more professionally.  I don't think she can recognize or diffuse tension or disagreements among dogs before a conflict occurs. And she is not comfortable if a conflict does occur. She was ending an arrangement with another dog while I was at the meet and greet also, so this isn't an isolated event. Lesson learned, be sure to leave your dog with the sitter a few times during the day before committing to anything overnight.
Lacey is a very nice and positive person. She always greets you with a smile. She loves dogs and goes above and beyond in making them comfortable at her place.

I was a little hesitant to leave Misha in hands of a petite woman, since he is a big german shepherd and I was afraid he is going to run away. But after the meet and greet that we had at her house, I changed my mind. Lacey was asking a lot of questions about his personality, behavior, habits, likes, etc. She looked like she cared and answered all my questions with confidence.

So I left Misha 2 times there for a daycare, and both times he seem to be happy and tired after. She would send me pictures and videos of him, and he looks so happy chasing the ball and playing with other dogs. Lacey also would send a little description about whether they went on a walk, or played in the yard, and if he went potty.

I am planning on using Lacey's services, and highly recommend her to everyone.
Lacey was fabulous. My two Labradoodles had a great time and slept all the way home. Proof that they had a great time. She sent us a couple photos each day which is a very nice touch. Her comments about what they were doing was also a nice touch. Strong recommendation!!!
The dogs had a blast! I think they are honestly a little depressed to be home (-: Lacey was wonderful. We were a bit nervous as it was our first time but Lacey did everything to put us at ease. She sent reassuring texts and photos every day. By the third day we could totally relax into our vacation, knowing our dogs were well taken care of. We feel 100% confident in the care they received with Lacey and wouldn't hesitate to bring them again!
Bubbles had a great stay at Lacey's. We got lots of pictures and she came home happy and tired from all the fun she had. Will definitely be visiting again!
Lacey provides the home away from home that I really like for my dog Theo, especially since she has the yard that I don't have and several pooches to play with so my dog Theo always comes home happy, hungry and ready for a good night's sleep.
Jessie so enjoyed her day with Lacey and her other boarders! She played and chased the ball and I know she is incredibly happy as I am too. Jessie is a lab and loves other dogs and people. Looking forward to having her spend time at your home more often. It is great to have someone you can trust and to have peace your dog is taken care so well. Thank you Lacey for your care and love of our Jessie girl.
Mia is my best fur pal. As an only dog in my house, she is an alpha dog and has very limited interaction with other dogs, which leads her to be anxious with other people and dogs.

At the meet-n-greet, Lacey and her dog, Duke were very welcoming. Mia nor I had any apprehensions.

I appreciated the every day check-ins from Lacey while I was out of town. The pics of Mia looking happy and the daily activities were so comforting. It certainly lowered my stress level and made my trip that much more relaxing and enjoyable.

I am certainly looking forward to my next adventure knowing that Mia will be well taken care of.
My dog Theo, was lucky to find an opening at Garden Home Fur Friends and was so happy when I picked him up it was like making him leave a party.
Poppy had a great stay at Lacey's. And I loved all the photos & videos that were sent, really put my mind at rest whilst we were on vacation. Will definitely be using Lacey again on the future.
very happy with Lacey. I will be having her watch Lilly again.
Lacey did a great job of hosting my dog Bailey! She kept me informed with pic and text about how Bailey was coping in a her new accommodations.I plan to use Lacey again in the future,Thanks again. Steve
Thanks Lacey! Appreciate that you are so considerate and aware of Gidget's needs.
Our dog loves staying with Lacey! She always comes home content.
Lacey was great we left Cameron with her and her 2 boys and they got along great with Cameron. Lacey sent me updates when I asked and took Cameron to the park and did activities with him even though her dogs might not be at the same energy level as Cameron all the time they got along great. I think Cameron loved it because when they wanted to play the pups played and when they wanted to rest they rested. I am so happy to have found Lacey and will use her the next time we go out of town.
Lacey and her husband are extremely sweet, and I feel very comfortable leaving my anxiety ridden shih tzu in their care. She responds quickly to text messages and phone calls, and sends photos at my request when I'm missing my fur baby. Definitely reccommend, and will be using her again in the future! :)
Lacey is a fantastic host for our dog Rita. She's kind and flexible. Rita always comes home tired and happy.
My dog, Rita came home happy and tired. Lacey is a great host and her bassets are welcoming to dog guests.
Lacey and her husband were so compassionate and went out of their way to socialize my dog with theirs and then took me to their house so I could see where she would be staying even on my extremely short notice. I got multiple pic updates every day and messages about how she was doing. I could feel and see that she was being taken care of as well as if she were at home with me. I will come back again and again to Lacey and I'm sure Buttercup will want to play with her new friends Duke and Earl again too!

Thanx Lacey, Beth P
