25 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
NOTE: I WILL BE TAKING A HUMAN VACAY FROM TUESDAY AUG 16TH-SUNDAY AUG 21ST! I WILL BE UNABLE TO RETURN TEXTS OR EMAILS UNTIL MONDAY, AUG 22ND. THANK YOU??
Hi, I am a Re-Socialization trainer and Rehabilitator of abused, neglected and homeless pets as well as the former owner of "Almost Home" Pet Hotel and Rescue, a dual purpose facility that acted as both a pet hotel (the UNkennel) for loved pets, while owners were away, and an all breed rescue for homeless, abused or aggressive dogs. (as well as cats, a few pigs, horses and a sweet old cow) I took an entirely different approach to boarding than what was conventional. I found pet care had become an "Industry" run by people who just didn't seem to understand how the ultra sensitive canine heart and brain operated, and strived to create a "home" environment.

I have worked as a Veterinary Surgical Assistant, I am currently an avid Rescue worker and Co-ordinator, an Activist for the reform of Canine protection laws, an Aggression Rehabilitator and the former Owner of a pet hotel. (Won "Kennel of the Year" for NC in 2004.) I orchestrated the Maxton Mastiff Rescue in 2005, resulting in the 1st ever jail sentence of an abuser in that county. And I work diligently for animal rights. I began the "Last Chance" program in NC and had a 99% rate. I also created and ran "The 1st dog on the Right" program, in where I rescued animals from high kill shelters.

What my experience has taught me is that food and shelter are NOT enough. If you are not providing care for the WHOLE pet, they feel it. Their brains and emotional range are incredibly close to that of a human toddler, and so must be their treatment and care. I have developed dozens of little tricks and tips to make a dogs transition away from their family seemless. I LOVE every minute I spend with these babies and they know it! Nothing I can tell you will speak as loudly and ring as true, as your dogs reaction. Your dog will never lose weight while in my care or experience loneliness or separation anxiety.

Hugs and Kisses by the boatload. I am more than happy to work out discount pricing for long stays or multiple dogs. Extremely experienced with special needs, diabetics, seniors and emotional/temperament issues. As of March, 2015, I will be moving to my new home, with a very large, fully fenced yard. My 2 little dogs are kept separate from guest pups in most cases.

About Gina Lynn E.: I am currently working diligently to re-open my rescue haven again, projected for 2016, but until then, this a great way to keep working with animals. They are my passion, as they have been for all the days of my life.

Our dog Buddy stayed with Gina for 4 nights. Gina communicated with us very well, including pictures of Buddy. Buddy came home happy and healthy and he loved playing in Gina's fenced-in backyard.
We had never left our 8 yr old beagle anywhere. Our scheduled sitter had to cancel and we had a wedding to attend. Gina was awesome with our very short notice. We knew Gina would be perfect as soon as Trouble met her in her backyard and gave her kisses. He loved being there! Our next trip to Wilmington we will call her to care for him. She was excellent!

Gina was great. Ella felt very comfortable in her care, and she went above and beyond taking care of her. Definitely recommend her!
This was the first time we've had someone (outside friends and family) house/dogsit and Gina exceeded our expectations! We just moved to the area and were sad to leave behind our dogvacay sitter, but how lucky we were to find Gina! She sent us updates, took our dog on day trips, and even took our dog to her house when storms in our area got to be intense (my dog is nervous and is not used to thunder/real weather). I can't recommend her enough!

GINA was superb. I've used dogvacay about two weeks a year for the past several years. I definitely have my favorites and my disappointments as (with everything in life) some hosts are just better than others. GINA is one of my favorites. My dogs are very sensitive because they are puppymill rescues and they are under 10lbs. I can tell in photos and the moment I pick my girls up, whether or not they felt comfortable. They fell in love with GINA, so I did too. What I especially liked about Gina: she was genuinely interested in what my dogs liked and were used to, and she asked me lots of questions. She was genuinely concerned with their physical safety and with their emotional stability, and she had procedures in place to ensure success. She was extremely receptive, thoughtful, and responsive. She sent me pictures and updates via text. I piled a lot of expectations on Gina with my 4 page information sheet and my type A pet-parent personality, and I would comfortably and happily ask her to host my little girls again.

Gina is very experienced with dogs, as is her son who happened to be home from college and bonded quite closely with our dog during her 7 day stay with them. She was very accommodating of our pup's needs and even willing to let us come by and grab our dog for an outing on the beach. (We couldn't have her at the place we were staying.) The yard is huge, which I'm sure was a nice bonus for our dog too. Very accommodating, very nice, and great with our clingy & slightly nervous pup.

Gina is an amazing pet caregiver! We could not have been more pleased with the care she gave our boxer during a weeklong stay. Frozen bones with peanut butter was one of the treats Bella received and she loved playing in the pool and running around the spacious fenced-in backyard. We also appreciated Gina's knowledge and recommendation for supplements to help with physical issues Bella is experiencing. Bella was happy when we picked her up and her coat was very soft - thank you, Gina! We will definitely use Gina again in the future.

Mia was very well taken care of! When we picked her up she was perfectly content and had a big smile on her face. I think she even went through some separation anxiety from being away from Gina and her new found friends the last day since we picked her up. I will defiantly use Gina again and can't believe I ever boarded my baby girl in a caged facility. She was pampered and given great one on one attention which every dog deserves when their parents have to leave town;)

Gina was awesome! My dog is very nervous and Gina was really keen to that. She was patient and let Sevi find her comfort zone. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has timid dogs.
Gina was wonderful. My little dog is very elderly and she took lots of time to make sure he was well taken care of. She sent pictures and updates since I was out of town, that made me feel very secure. I would recommend her services Five Stars
Gina is fantastic with dogs, and ours is not easy to handle! She took care of our 75 pound "ball of energy" on 4 separate occasions during our year in Wilmington. Gina always sent photo updates without being asked and even bought our pup some food when I didn't pack enough. He had ample play time and always came back home with a new toy provided by Gina. I highly recommend her to all of my Wilmington friends and will continue to do so!

Gina is wonderful! She loves and understands dogs on so many levels. Our Cayley had a wonderful time. Gina immediately understood her special needs and made her feel so at home. We will definitely come back when we need a sitter in that area. Highly recommended.

SHELBEE HAD A GREAT TIME. GINA IS A TRUE PROFESSIONAL AND WE WERE VERY HAPPY TO LEAVE OUR BABY IN HER CARE. WE WILL USE HER AGAIN AS WE ARE PLANNING ON MOVING TO HER AREA. LYNN AND NEIL WEITZ ( AND SHELBEE)
It makes my heart warm to see the bond between my dog Belle and Gina ... Belle is a super skittish dog and Gina recognizes this and lets Belle come to her in her own time - and Belle does! Gina is the dog whisperer, and Belle and I are so glad to have found her! Thanks again, Gina - you make mine and Belle's time away from home SO much easier!

Excellent care. I will book with Gina again
Before going on our trip we were worried about leaving our sweet, older (13 almost 14 year old) Golden Retriever. We were so relieved and happy to find Gina! She took such good, loving care of him that he was just fine when we picked him up. Her home environment, along with her love and understanding of dogs, made it a great place for him to be. We would happily leave him with Gina the next time we have to be away!

Gina was great. Very caring and professional. Highly recommend!
Gina is fantastic! This was the second time my 3 year old black lab mix stayed with her for a holiday and I couldn't be more pleased. She has a great fenced in backyard, her son let's my baby sleep in his bed with him, and I know she is getting lots of love and attention. Pennie was well fed and loved while I was away and lots of pictures were shared. Highly recommend and we will definitely rebook with her again!

Vinny had a great time on vacation with Gina! He was even spoiled with some treats at meal time! I loved getting pictures throughout his stay! We will definitely keep Gina in mind for Vinny's next vacation!
Gina was great! Maui loved her stay, and had fun playing with the other guests. I would definitely have our dog stay with Gina again in the future, great to know she is in good hands! Thanks again!
Gina is an excellent host. She makes our dog Molly and us feel so very comfortable about leaving her.
Lucy seemed very comfortable with Gina.
Gina was wonderful. She knows dogs and shows much caring for them. She is just what we need for our recently rescued dog. Joyce Huguelet
Gina was awesome! Our dogs had a wonderful time, we received pictures throughout their stay. It was great to know they were in such good care while we were on vacation!
Had a great experience with Gina. Highly recommend!
Gina was wonderful! She made is easier for us to leave our recently rescued dog for the first time. She was so considerate of our dog's needs, and she was so easy to work with.
Gina was great! She clearly is passionate about making each and every animal that comes through her door as comfortable as possible. My dog is very well-behaved but gets really anxious in new places; Gina went above and beyond to make sure Davy was relaxed and happy. Davy sleeps in our bed at home, but I assumed she'd be in a dog bed or on the floor while at Gina's, which was fine. However, Gina allowed her to sleep in her son's bed at night to make the transition even easier for her - a sweet gesture. Davy was spoiled even more with some homemade organic dog food through the week, and Gina gave us a sample to take with us when we picked her up. Davy was thrilled to see us, but I could tell she wasn't stressed or upset at all by her accommodations while we were gone. I mentioned how nice it would be to have Gina closer to home (Raleigh), and she said she would gladly drive to meet us halfway to pick up our (my bf & I's) pups for boarding again if we needed it. If you need a genuine, passionate, & attentive dog-sitter, Gina is definitely your answer. Thank you, Gina! (Thanks to your son for sharing his bed with my sweet bedhog for 3 nights, too!)

Gina was wonderful! Elphie has stayed with her a few times and each time is so excited to be there and see Gina and her family. Gina and her mom and son treat Elphie like part of the family- including homemade dog food and plenty of pictures! I highly recommend her.

Excellent dogcare! Gina was very kind and very knowledgable about dog care. Highly recommend.
Gina was very quick to respond to me and easy to get in touch with. She obviously has a great heart for dogs and animals. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because my puppy got into a bag of dog food on her watch, ate too much and was sick afterward. It's hard to think like a puppy! They will do the things you least expect! Otherwise, I had an awesome experience with Gina.

Couldn't be happier! My nervous pup (who doesn't let anyone pick him up), was snuggled up in Gina's arms in no time. She's got that certain something that makes even skittish little one's feel right at home. We'll be back for another visit soon.
our dogs hanna and Lillie stayed with gina for over tnree weeks -- she took care of them like she does her own dogs -- she was extremely loving and attentive -- she played with them daily and even gave them homemade dog food -- she sent updates on a regular basis with pictures included -- we recommend gina very highly -- joanne and mike

Gina did an excellent job with my springer spaniel Schooner. Schooner is a velcro dog and does not like to be left alone. Gina was very patient with him making him feel at home. Also Schooner has fear anxiety which causes him to growl out of fear. Gina was patient and understood how to handle these issues. Thanks Gina, I wish he could stay with you longer, but maybe another time.

Gina was outstanding, I have never done this before and was so happy I found the perfect person to care for my babies. She's very knolegable, experienced, sweet and trusting. I felt totaly comfortable with Gina carring for my puppers and had no worries other than I missed them probably more than they missed me.

Gina was wonderful to deal with and kept us informed with text and pictures of Sassy's stay. Gina made Sassy feel at home and gave her a lot of love. I would highly recommend Gina and would not hesitate to leave Sassy with her again.
Took care of my dog like her own, got pictures and updates and told me how she was doing. Recommend her to anyone, very nice person to deal with and my dog loved her. Thank you for the great care.
Gina did a GREAT job with both of my Cavalier's. One had to be on antibiotics, and she was on time with all of the special "eccentricities" of both the dogs. She also kept up with me all weekend on how they were doing, as well as sent me pictures.

In the past, we have just had someone come in a few times a day, and this service has made a huge difference in the anxiety of the dogs.

Already reserved for Thanksgiving!
