I was referred to work with Tony by a friend who raved about how amazing he was with her dog. I booked three training sessions with him for my new puppy, Benji. I wanted to start him on the right foot and Tony was absolutely wonderful with him. It is clear that he is very knowledgeable about dogs and immediately sets the right tone when working with Benji. With his guidance I was able to work on correcting some issues I had and teaching him new things. Tony was kind enough to stay longer than the one hour scheduled session each visit and was very helpful in answering any questions I had through text in between sessions. I would certainly recommend him to anyone who is looking to train their best friend, you won't regret it!
Tony was my puppy's trainer and I knew my puppy would be in good hand. He sent me an update everyday with photo and video while I was away which made me reassured. I also like Tony's own dogs are very gentle and nurturing. Most importantly my puppy looked very happy and relaxed.
Tony is the best! He takes perfect care of our little guy and treats him like one of the family.
Tony is great and Biscuit had a wonderful time!
We were referred to Tony after Josie started exhibiting some not-so great behaviors during our walks (biting, leash tugging, lunging at crosswalks etc..). She is such a sweet dog with all sorts of dogs and other people and has wonderful potential but was giving me such a hard time I was at a loss. Tony came to the apartment and stayed way beyond the 1hr session we originally set up. He spent a lot of time getting to know Josie and her brief history. He taught me all sorts of ways to handle her reactivity when we were out on walks and provided advice on all sorts of gear that would help. We ended up purchasing an eCollar and more sessions with Tony. He worked with Josie and I way beyond our 1 hr time during each session and didn't leave until we were both comfortable (her wearing and i using the ecollar). Our last session was recently and the improvement in Josie has been stellar - she is walking on a leash so politely and with little to no incident. We are definitely going to work with Tony for future training sessions. Couldn't be more happy with his help and advice and looking forward to working with him more.
Hudson stayed with Tony for 4 nights. I am always very nervous whenever I have to leave to Hudson behind. Tony was very understanding of that and went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable. He replied to ALL my daily text messages promptly, he sent me many photos and updated me frequently. I quickly realized Hudson was happy, comfortable and having fun with Tony and I had nothing to worry about! Drop off/pick up was timely and Tony was very flexible in working with my schedule. Not only is Tony an amazing trainer, he's also a wonderful, caring and attentive dogsitter! I would leave Hudson with Tony again!
I have used Tony twice now for training-with more sessions planned- and see such a difference in my 1 year old, very stubborn, Boston Terrier Hudson already. Tony's real world approach is exactly what Hudson needs! Tony took the time to discuss all of the issues I was having with Hudson in detail and to address any concerns I had. He offered me very useful advice and tips I can implement on a daily basis. Tony is so patient with Hudson which means the world to me. I really feel and see how passionate Tony is about his work with animals. He follows up with me regularly to check on Hudson's progress. He genuinely cares about making sure Hudson's challenges are worked on and our training goals are met. I have worked with several other trainers in the past and have had the most positive results and experience with Tony. I trust Tony with Hudson, which is not easy for me to do! I highly recommend Tony.
Brooklyn is lovable dog but he can be a bit difficult to manage... I met Tony for 20 mins night 1 and based on his experience that same evening he took Brooklyn home and took care of him for 5 days. I received photos along with peace of mind and Brooklyn received safety and kisses!
Tony is fantastic! Lola had such an amazing time and there are tons of pictures to prove it. I trust Tony and his instincts with Lola because he is a great trainer and an absolute dog lover. I would recommend Tony to anyone needing a dog sitter for any amount of time. Lola was with him for two weeks while I took the bar exam and it was really helpful knowing she was safe and happy and that I could focus on studying because he would be able to take care of everything for her. Thank you Tony and his two lovely pups Moose and Glimmer!
I did not know what an amazing dog I had until trainer Tony Flanagan worked with us. Before we got his help, every day with my alpha-female Staffy was an unpredictable struggle - pulling, lunging, snarling were inevitable at some point during our walks through Tribeca. When we were out, I was often physically tense and emotionally stressed - constantly apologizing for my dog's behavior and explaining what an inexperienced owner I was. I felt overwhelmed and I think my dog felt frustrated and confused.

A highly effective, natural talent who really knows how to read dogs, Tony repaired and strengthened my relationship with my dog. With his help, I discovered what an eager-to-please, smart, loving, solid little dog she is and how to enjoy her companionship on walks. She is now well-behaved as well as spirited and playful. It's getting better and better.

My experience with Tony was life-changing - for me and my dog. I cannot recommend him more highly!
To begin with, my dog Fern, a young staffy, was beside herself with joy at the sight of Tony - he connects instantly and beautifully with dogs. Fern obeyed Tony's subtle cues and did things for him in minutes that she hasn't done for me in the 2 years I've had her.
I was a bit overwhelmed because Fern is my first dog, a handful, and has recently been kicked out of the doggy daycare that's helped me take care of her since I adopted her.
Tony's actions, observations and advice were deeply reassuring and gave me confidence that - with his help - I'll be able to handle Fern on walks without anxiety (she has skateboard, bicycle, runner and sometimes other dog reactivity - most of which, as he points out, starts with my own reactivity).
He is a pleasure to deal with, extremely generous with his time and skills, and has a very powerful gift with dogs. Fern loves him and I'm very grateful to him. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs help with their dog(s).
My husband and I enjoyed his session very much. He taught me how to behave to my dog- I learned a lot from him. He stayed much longer than an hour that I booked and gave us some instructions to follow as we continue to train my dog. ( rather train me. ) We would like to continue his sessions and I am very optimistic that my dog will be better.
Tony and I had a private session with my dog, Hobbes, yesterday. Hobbes was nipped at by a few dogs in our building and has become fearful and protective/defensive since those instances took place.

Tony came in with a calm demeanor and an open mind and heart, ready to listen. Unsurprisingly, he showed exceptional poise and grace working with Hobbes and me, offering me tips and suggestions as Hobbes and I work through this.

The best part of our session was when Hobbes was able to comfortably approach a dog that he's afraid of without aggression or fear - something he hasn't ever been able to do. It was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Tony worked hard to make Hobbes and I feel confident, and he gave us the tools for success moving forward. I am so grateful for the time he spent with us, and I would recommend him with the highest praise and without any reservation.

Book Tony for a private session - you won't be sorry!
We knew Tony from puppy-class and were very happy to have him as Alfonso's first "dog-sitter". Tony made himself available on very short notice and took excellent care of our young dog on his first whole day alone. We loved the picture-updates! Thank you.
We knew Tony from Remy's early days -- he was her puppy kindergarten trainer and was instrumental in her initial growth & development. When we noticed he was on DogVacay it was a no brainer.
Not only is Tony reliable and trustworthy, he's also highly skilled with animals which gave us great peace of mind. We highly recommend him.
Awesome!! Tony was so great with both of my pups! He made me feel really comfortable and was very encouraging that we can get Hank's issues under control. He worked with Hank for a while, showing me the techniques and phrases I should be using. He then passed him over to me to continue what he was practicing. He gave me the confidence I needed to get Hank to take his mom seriously! Although Hank will need continued training to get him where he needs to be, there was immediate improvement for both of us! Thank you Tony! We can't wait for the next session!!
