I'm a dog-loving nursing student!

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Ashley and I am a nursing student at Nova Southeastern University. I am a very upbeat and happy person! I love dogs. I believe in providing quality care for your dog while you are away. My home is their home! I decided to dog sit because its the most awesome job ever! Aside from being an easy side "job" for a busy college student such as myself, having the company of a sweet dog is truly a treat (no pun intended!). Every dog is unique and has something to teach me. I always look forward to the new experience, challenge, love, and friendship with each and every dog that is under my care. I would like to continue pet-sitting even after I become a professional nurse because it is seriously too much fun to give up. My boyfriend, Craig, is a CRAZY dog lover! He might even love dogs more then me- but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt :-) Craig and I have two dogs- Sammy (male) and Jessie (female). Craig rescued both of these dogs while he was in college. Sammy was a puppy left at the end of his driveway in a crate, waiting for someone to love him. Jessie was found along side the road, very skinny and sickly. Craig did not even think she would make it. Luckily for them, Craig has a big heart and gave them the love and treatment they deserve! I also have 2 roommates that are dog lovers as well! One of them also pet sits so we work together. I have a very nice, clean and cozy 3 bedroom apartment that is obviously pet friendly. There is a dog park very close by that I could easily walk your dog to for bathroom breaks and to play. I can accommodate most if not all your pet's special needs, just let me know! I am very honored to take care of your family member and take this responsibility seriously. Your dog is, after all, a member of your family. No dog will EVER go more than 8 hours without a potty break. We can also make adjustments if your pet needs to go out more frequently. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog (and cat!) lover for my entire life. I grew up being best friends with a Shetland sheepdog (shelty) named Missy. She was an amazing first dog who I could never forget. I also cared for two cats as a young child. Their names were Jack and Tickles. After Missy passed when I was 10, my father adopted an Australian Shepherd named Lottie. Lottie is a high energy dog that I matched well with, also being a high energy human. I say I'm high energy because I run, hike, weight train, participate in hot yoga, as well as work as a barista while attending nursing school. Phew! My boyfriend and I have two dogs that are always keeping our lives interesting in ways we never expected. About my yard I do not have a backyard but I do live near a dog park. This park will be for quick, short walks and bathroom breaks. If your pet enjoys walking and is able to walk longer, I would be more than happy to do this! Let me know if your pet is one that can road trip- my boyfriend and I would love to take him or her somewhere new! My experience administering medication I am a nursing student, so I am 100% comfortable with giving your pet medication. Please advise me on any important instructions for giving medication as well as how your pet may respond.

Ashley does an amazing job with Nala, she's always been there for me with last minute help, very timely and always does a great job taking extra time to play with Nala, and my pup loves her! I would recommend her a hundred times over I have full confidence in her.

We left our dog, Aden with Ashley for three weeks. We came back to a very happy and content dog. Ashley and her boyfriend took great care of him and sent us regular pictures and videos. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a loving boarding home for their pet.

Information Ashley L. would like to know about your pet

Before sitting your pup I would love to know as much information as possible, even the tiny details you may find not useful for me. My goal is to make sure your family member is as comfortable and as secure as possible. I understand a strange and new environment can be stressful for some dogs. That being said, I want to make sure I can accommodate him or her and help them feel as if they were right at home. A few things I would like to know include, but certainly are not limited to: 1. What kind of food does your dog need to avoid? Also, what kind of food does your dog prefer? 2. How often does your dog need walked? How often for potty breaks? 3. How is your dog around other animals and other people? 4. Does your dog have any fears? 5. Does your dog need any medicine? As you can see, I want to know anything and everything there is to know! I actually will be typing out a form for you to fill out prior to dropping off your pet. This will be a quick and easy way to organize information I may need to know about your pet. I am also more than happy to meet your pet before pet sitting them if it makes you feel more comfortable! I do not have any breed preferences, although I do have more experience with small to medium sized dogs. I am a lover of all breeds!

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks As mentioned, I will be walking your dog in the park near my apartment. I provided a picture of this park on my profile. Many other pet owners in the area walk their dogs here so it is very important that I know how your dog interacts with other dogs. Also, please let me know their typical bathroom schedule so I can stick to their normal routine. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog will sleep in an area that he or she typically would sleep at home. If they typically sleep in your room and want to sleep in my room, that is perfectly fine with me. I just want your pet to be comfortable. Time I'll spend with your dog As much as possible. The only thing that would possibly prevent me from donating time to your dog would be if I have to work a shift at Starbucks. The longest I would be gone would be between 4-8 hours. I would walk the dog before I left and as soon as I came home. No dog will ever be left alone for any longer than an 8 hour period, that is my guarantee. When I do work, I work daylight hours only. I am more than happy to let you know ahead of time what my work schedule for that time period will be so that you will know just how much time will be devoted to your pet. I typically take care of pets that I watch the same way I care for my own pets. I frequently take them outside, talk to them, play with them, snuggle them and make them feel loved and safe.
