About Ruth

5 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I am a 28 year old law student who loves animals. I have one to two classes per day, but I live very close to campus so coming home between classes to check in and walk your pets isn't a problem.

I'm a South Florida native that has spent plenty of time in the rain (and snow from time spent with family in Pittsburgh); I have no problem braving the weather to take your pet for potty breaks outside. I live alone, so if your pet doesn't do well with lots of people or other pets my apartment is the perfect place. If your pet loves people and other animals I live in a great neighborhood perfect for walks and socializing outside. My apartment building is pet friendly, with an elevator (good for older pets that may not handle stairs well).

If you have two dogs (or cats) that need sitting I will be happy to care for them as they are comfortable with each other already. I will offer a discounted rate for multiple pets from the same household. Pets are allowed on the furniture if you allow that in your home. You are free to bring any crates or beds that your dog feels comfortable with.

I have owned many pets over the years and have also cared for the pets of friends and family members. I'm pretty easy going and loving, your fur babies will be in great hands.

*If you are unable to pick up your pet by 10:00 am on the final day of their stay, please keep in mind there will be a $15 late fee. Pickup after 4:00pm will be charged $20.*
*Holiday stay rates are increased by $10/night due to high demand*

Ruth is a doll and I wouldn't hesitate to leave my own dog with her for a vacay! Her apartment is well located, dog-friendly and impeccably orderly for someone in law school. Because she doesn't have a dog, your pet would get her undivided attention and bask in her effervescent glow.

Ruth has lots of experience with dogs, having volunteered in the past with PAWS. She enjoys long walks and, though a southerner by birth, she is not averse to our cold and messy winter weather. The outdoor space by the building is well equipped for dog owners-- it even has multiple "doggie bag" stations! Clearly a dog-friendly place.

Ruth told me that there are lots of dogs in the building, but she has never heard one barking. I'm sure that is due to the building's thick walls and insulation. A plus is that she is located on the top floor, so there is no noise from above to bother or distract your pet.

Ruth is engaging, fun and promises to be a wonderful host to any visiting pet. She gets the total thumb's up from me!

Shadow and Josie didn't even miss us! Ruth cared for them as if they were her own fur children! Have already reserved Ruth for another vacay!
Ruth is a wonderful host who genuinely cares about her dog guests. Our dog had suffered a serious injury last year while staying at a different dog vacay host (not Ruth) and we had not left her with any dog vacay host since then. (I'll add that dog vacay covered all the expenses, except the deductible, for the necessary surgery etc.) After that experience, we waited a long time and then carefully chose Ruth because she only boards one dog at a time and is clearly a very responsible person. Our dog had a wonderful experience and we will definitely use Ruth again. She is a sweetheart and we highly recommend her.

Ruth is amazing. She has a dog-friendly aura about her and the pups know it when they first meet her. Our husky just adores her (and if anyone knows huskies, they are typically very picky in their choice of company). Ruth watched our Liesel for a week and Leisel couldn't have been more content. Thank you Ruth!!

Ruth made Hobie feel right at home and was a concientious host for his one-night stay. We would definitely request another Dogvacay for Hobie with Ruth!
Ruth was great!
Ruth is a treasure! You can't get a better pet sitter. She took amazing care of our dog and cat while we were gone for two weeks. She stayed at our house and took great care of our home as well. I would highly recommend her to anyone. A truly lovely person. The best of the best.

Ruth was a perfect host. She provided daily photo updates and was very easy to work with -- by far the best dog boarding experience we have had. We would definitely recommend Ruth and will board our dog with her again, if possible.
Ruth was wonderful. She took great care of my little guy, and booked with very short notice. Bingo came home very happy!
Ruth was an excellent sitter for our dog Sunny. She kept in regular contact, sending photo updates and keeping us informed. She was very attentive and sweet with Sunny and I know they had a good time together!
Ruth was great from start to finish. We would definitely have our pooch bunk with her again. So convenient and easy!
We had a great experience with Ruth. Would definitely board my dog with her again.
Ruth was great. She was responsive and flexible in scheduling drop off and pick up. Our kids loved the daily photo updates. Her building and surrounding area are dog friendly and, most importantly, she took care of Buddy.

For those interested in specifics, here are some specifics about what I think Ruth did well:

1) She followed directions. Before dropping off Buddy off I careful measured food for the stay plus a couple of days in case something happened. When I picked him up he had exactly the right amount of leftovers, which shows that Ruth listened to my feeding request.

2) She protected his health. She took away one of his toys when it looked like he was breaking off pieces and eating them. I had told her about a prior surgery involving a foreign object. Taking the toy shows that she listened and that she was paying close enough attention to notice when an acceptable behavior (chewing on his toy) was potentially dangerous.

3) She continued his emotional development. Buddy is a rescue dog and still learning confidence. He gets stressed out in new situations. I expected some regression in his training and behavior, but that is not what I found after picking him up. If anything he has been more confident and responsive on recent walks.

We would definitely use Ruth again.

Ruth was an exceptional host for Challa. She is warm, sweet and clearly a dog lover. I can tell Challa had a great time with Ruth and was well cared for. We will definitely use Ruth again.
