Hi there! My name is Erin Vermeulen and I have recently moved to the Oshawa area and am loving it! Dogs must be comfortable with men and cats as I live with my boyfriend and my kitty Minou.
All my life I have loved animals and knew I wanted to work with them, and coming from a large family mainly working in the medical field; I found my calling.
I have just graduated from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology for the Veterinary Technician program. This means that I am the nurse for your pets at veterinary clinics! I am currently in the process of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. Since I am a technician, I do have a extra set of skills that can come in handy with caring for pets. Giving medications, whether they are oral, inject-able, or topical, is not a problem for me and I understand the importance of giving medications on time. I also can trim nails and give baths. Animals who are recovering from a recent surgery or procedure are my specialty. I will keep them calm, rested, comfortable, warm, happy and loved while they are recovering, while keeping an eye out for anything abnormal with the pets behavior or the incision site, so that if something is different, I can notify you and we can decided if we should take them into the vets or not.
I am comfortable with all breeds, sizes, and temperaments of animals. I will treat them as my own and make sure they are comfortable and happy at all times.
When having your pet stay with me I do recommend that you bring everything and anything you think will make him/her more comfortable/feel at home -toys, their bed/crate, food bowls (if they are particular to those like my parents dogs pictured above), enough food and treats for the stay, and a piece of clothing that you have recently worn. I find that helps with separation anxiety and makes them feel more comfortable and at ease in a new environment.
Now that the cold weather is upon us, please remember to bring any coats, sweaters, or paw covers for your pet, we want them to stay warm too!
I do dog sit at your house as well, but I don't stay at your house all day or night as I usually have dogs at my place. I usually go over multiple times a day to feed, walk, play, love and let them go outside. If you are looking for more around the clock care, I prefer that they come and stay with me.
**December and January are starting to get busy! Please be sure to book sooner than later as I do have limited space and hate having to turn people down. And just because my calendar on here says I'm booked, doesn't necessarily mean I am! Please send me a message if the dates you are interested in are blocked off and we can arrange something.**
All dogs staying with me on Christmas Day will receive a small present, just as if they were apart of my family.
I look forward to meeting you and your pet! Please feel free to message me at anytime with questions or inquiries :)
